Which do you prefer: placing your comments at the end or at the beginning of your comment thread?
As my comment threads grow, I find it takes so much time to get to the bottom of the thread. On the other hand, I fear missing someone's comment if I don't go through the whole thread.
I like them at the bottom as that is what I am used to, however, as you mentioned, as the comment threads get longer, well, it takes more time to get down to the most recent.
There's a place that says skip to last comment to skip all the ones you've already approved. That helps on the hubs that you have tons of comments.
Hey Susan, I prefer to have comments at the end of my hubs. Since I require moderation before the comment reaches the hub, I read the comment long before it reaches the hub anyways. As for the order of my comments, which is what I think you're referencing...I prefer the newest comments at the end. HubPages has implement a one touch/click option at the beginning of the comment section, so people can jump to the end of the comments and post their comment. If people read the comments, then they will be scrolling through the comments as the comments were posted. Meaning, oldest to newest instead of newest to oldest.
Great question! I usually go with the end, but not for any definitive reason.
I like my comments at the end. I try to keep up with the comments, as they appear-- though I do have lapses.
But the other reason is: I like to read comments that a hub has received.
When I start to read comments and they are "last posted topwise" I have to scroll down to see what the reply is being posted to---.
It's really easier for me to see the first posted comment,-- reply, next posted, --reply etc.
I prefer to have the comments in proper chronoligcal order so my comment is at the end since it is the newest. This gives me a chance to at least scan the other comments, on my way down to my comment. Sometimes it changes what I want to say because of some insight or word I picked up along the way.
I find it confusing when the writer replies to a comment I haven't read yet. There are also thoughts that are referenced, and I like to be able to see the order of progression in these thoughts.
At the end of the comment thread. The beginning doesn't make sense especially if someone reads the comments before they comment. It doesn't flow with the hub.
At the end. It is good to allow the visitors to know more about the thoughts than comments. Comments may be mislead the visitors, if it is at the beginning.
I prefer the end, but I have a feeling that reverse is better. If someone stumbles across a Hub from google, they may scan down to see the most recent comment. If your first comment was 2 years ago, content looks old and visitor is gone.
If your last comment was two days ago, it appears to be fresh content. I've noticed HP staff (some) have switched to reverse. It is confusing to follow the discussions.
I had mine in chronological order but recently read a tip from HubPages saying that if you have older articles it looks better to have newer comments first and older ones last. I changed mine about a week a go but have found it confusing so I think I will probably change it back to the right order.
I think a much better solution would be for HubPages to remove the dates on the comments then people reading wouldn't think it is old information that is no longer relevant. The better Hubbers go in periodically updating our work and making sure it is current.
From a reading standpoint in the order they were received works better. For optimization they work better last to first. I recently changed to this and am not getting it. It is easy to answer the wrong comment until I get the hang of it.
The way I understand it when the bots search they pick up the date and look at the comment. If they find keywords those are picked up also. The way I see it it's a choice between keeping Google happy or me happy. I choose Google.
I prefer to place it at the end the bottom, as we write from top to bottom.

I posted a comment on another Hubber's hub 2 days ago, and just now, when I checked my Hubtivity, right at the top was the notification I had posted a comment on that hub 71 minutes ago. I knew I hadn't, so went back to the person's hub, and saw my original comment showing as 2 days ago, but the...

This is a suggestion for an additional feature to the option to order comments by either oldest or most recent as first-appearing.The current tool is useful for hubs with many comments, as I means people do not have to scroll through 50 or more comments to read the most recent. However, it would be...

Three days ago, I posted a comment in the hub "TN Legislative Assembly Elections, 2011" posted by 'bigfather'. I posted several comments in that hub for nearly one week. I found to my horror that one person called 'karunanidhi' issueing a veiled threat that I will be burnt alive if...

For the past few days some of the comments that I've made on my hubs and some of the comments from visitors to my hubs have posted two or even three times. I've seen double posts in the comments section of other people's hubs, too. When I'm making the comment I know that I haven't clicked the...
