Thanks for asking me this question.  A particular favourite of mine are Epiphllum which are rainforest plants from South America.  They have extremely spectacular flowers.
I am also fond of Hoya varieties which come from differing regions of China, Indoniesia and other asian countries.
There are also a lot of rather spectacular bulbs, of course most people know tulips and daffodils, but there are also scadoxis and haemanthus which are very unusual.
Of course what is exotic in one country can be more commonplace in others.
Have just joined HubPages so am really feeling inspired to share my knowledge of plants by writing some hubs soon!

I think carnivorous plants are interesting: Venus Fly traps, Pitcher Plants, Octopus  Plants, etc. that lure insects with scent and beauty only to trap them for food. http://discovermagazine.com/2001/oct/featplants

Rafflesia arnoldi and Amorphophalus are among  them since they're the biggest and the stinkiest flowers in the world.

We have a botanical garden here in Hawaii that has some very rare and unusual plants. Here is a hub I wrote about it with some pictures that you may want to check out.

I have always been fascinated by the mimosa plant  - also called Sensitive Plant and the touch-me-not.  The leaves close up upon being touched.
