Very important, do not become 'inactive' sometimes, some of us, as we age we tend to think deep inside 'aw I shouldn't be doing that now at my age' because of the exertion involved therein we have planted a negative seed into our subconscious & we become 'stuck in mind & therefore stuck in body!'
One of the most vital areas for mobility as we age is 'stretching' will keep, (or help) us to be mobile by aiding in joint lubrication loss, muscles are warm invigorated with fresh oxygen filled blood whilst stretched out the tight/tension, aiding in flexibility, & just as importantly stretching tones our muscles helping to keep our body more youthful & stronger whilst aiding releasing appropriate happy good feelings once generated from the brain. Good feel factor.
Stretching is so easy nearly anyone can do it no matter what level of fitness your never too late to start & you can even start alone in your own home.
I love stretching lol

By walking as much as possible and cutting down on the cakes.
I have to agree with inspired to write. Becoming inactive packs on pounds so its very important to stay active. It will work wonders!
Stay active for sure. I also recommend eating smaller portions, more frequently as each time we eat our metabolism is stimulated into action. Also drink ice cold water often during the day, it causes the metabolism to get into action also because our body temperature is regulated by our metabolism and cold water throws off that balance. Eat a well balanced diet filled with fresh fruits and vegetables. Fit and trim for sure.
Be aware of what you are eating at a young age, don't wait until you are 40+. Avoid processed foods whenever you can. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables everyday...they help to nourish and repair your body at the cellular level. Also eat oatmeal everyday or as much as possible. Walking is an easy way to keep moving.
Not to be smart but you would keep fit in much the same way as before you turned fourty. Good diet and regular exercise, you should be at a pace where you are slightly out of breath but can still have a conversation to push up and challenge your fitness levels. Include healthy fats in the diet for your joints and alsways where correct footwear prior to exercise to minimise risk of injury. Hope this helps
