What supplies should be stockpiled to survive after a disaster?

How should you prepare to survive 2 weeks without electricity anywhere - like after a hurricane or earthquake or tornado?

They is a lot you will need to survive but some are more important then others. Above all I want to say water, batteries, flashlights, and canned food.

You need a backpack strong enough to carry a day's worth of food, water and basic medical kit.
    You also need:
1: Emergency radio with cell phone charger. ( wind-up )
2: Cell phone (2 extra batteries), credit card, some cash.
    3:  A Filtered Mask (breather)
    4: Basic medicine (aspirin, neosporin)
    5: Passport & Driver license
    6: Glasses & Contact lenses
    7: Towels & blanket
8:  Lighter (with can of fluid) and Matches
    9:  Survivor Knife
10: Hand wipes with antibacterial coating
    11: High-protein foods, canned goods
    12: Underwear

When the earthquake happened in Japan, many people didn't get enough information right away. I called my family in Japan about the Fukushima trouble and they didn't know about it yet.  Getting information on what is going on is very important.

    To keep at home,
1: Can of foods, 10 gallons of water in bottles
    2: Gasoline for your car
    3: Batteries
    4: Candle & lighter
5: Toilet Paper ( Paper products, like diapers)
    6:  Extra Blanket

I might missing something, but that all I think about for now.
