What are the goals of Science?

There are arguments that are scientific and arguments that are not scientific.  What makes scientific arguments stronger or better then a non-scientific argument? What are the characteristics of scientific argument?

The general theme is to investigate a phenomenon, a concept of interest, to increase the knowledge about that phenomenon/concept, by objective, verifiable and most important repeatable means.

The shorter version will be to find out the truth about something by experiments.

Science doesn't have any goals. Science is simply a method of investigation that can be used as a tool for any goals we want. Science can be used to extend human life, develop spaceships, build bigger nuclear weapons, to uncover the evolution (or lack of if you prefer) of animals.

Scientific arguments are formulated in a way that is testable and repeatable for the most part. Especially in hard sciences, we know the mass of hydrogen is X because we can weigh it over and over again. The same goes for all kinds of research its the goal to discover things that can be tested and verified that makes a scientific argument what it is.

Non Scientific arguments tend to be strong because they often rely on emotion, "logical thinking" and aren't always backed with testable facts. Or are based on other methods of persauding people which are often more effective in convincing people than sometimes dry data that "doesn't make sense"...
