   Most of the really fear-inducing moments in a young man's life involve the moments leading up to a street fight. I also wrestled; wrestling can also create a lot of fear. Acting can cause "stage fright"; some of the other actors in the same plays with me actually would vomit. Talking to a woman you really, really, like ... confessing love for the first time can also be an extreme emotional test. In order, they are these:
   
   1. A fight you can't avoid, and don't even care about (but somehow someone is forcing you to share his bad day.)
   2. Wrestling match/ martial arts match
   3. Pre-opening curtain jitters
   4. Confessing love

   Hearing gunfire in my porch and seeing bullets fly through the window into a house full of kids and children and being the one to protect and take charge of the situation. The drama is still too much to think about.

   A commotion from the street woke me up from my prolonged afternoon nap. I was 13 years old. I ran to the window and looked down to the people running to and fro on the street and yelling, screaming...I didn't understand what was happening...there was nobody to ask because my family had gone to church for the midweek prayer. It was between 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. and I was still disoriented between asleep or awake. As I was looking down through the wide open window trying to make sense of what was going on, a sudden resounding big and loud bang dropped on the floor at my back. It was just getting dark and I forgot to turn on the light. When I turned my head back, I saw something, it was moaning it scared the hell out of me. I was shocked and trembling but I managed to run to the switch to turn on the light. My fear was completed when I saw the bloody man, hacked all over his body, his face was an open bloody wound, I cannot see his eyes and he was gesturing and moaning...I learned later later that he was hacked and chopped by another man and the other man was chasing him...he tried to ask help from people but nobody would let him inside their house...the gate of our house was open and inside was dark...that was how he entered.

   1. The five days when my wife was trapped in the Superdome during Hurricane Katrina, and I was 500 miles away.
   
   2. The time I fell off a cliff. In the air, I knew that, if my body missed the ledge, and I was lucky, I was done for. If I was unlucky, I would be crippled for life.

   My most scary life experience was watching my two oldest children almost drown in St. Augustine FL several years ago while on family vacation. Not knowing how to swim and not really realizing that they were in trouble (caught in a current); I'm thankful that their father and another beachgoer were able to swim out to rescue them. The whole experience was very humbling as we realized that the outcome could have been so very different. Thank God for His grace, mercy, and protection.

   When I was knocked down by a speeding car. At that moment, I thought it was the end of my life. But I had survived and from that day onwards, I know that every action I take will have a reaction of consequence. So now I am clear of what I should be doing in everything I am doing.
