How to keep children quiet especially babies during flights?
nobody likes the crying babies on flights and it just seem to get on everybody's nerves..are there any tips on keeping babies quiet during flights??
Make sure if they have a special toy or blanket that you take it with you, but also consider taking along a few new things they haven't seen before - the excitement of a new toy to play with can often be a great distraction. Make sure you have enough food/milk for them and consider giving them a feed during take off and landing as this can help if their ears are hurting. Consider trying to book your flights so you will be flying when it would normally be nap time as then they might be more likely to sleep. Lastly don't be afraid to ask the cabin crew for help. When we flew with our son (although he was 3 at the time) the staff were great at distracting him and making sure everything was easy for us.
The most important things parents should have are oodles of patience and attention. As long as baby is comfortable, well-fed and not sick, he/she will look for ways to entertain and amuse himself/herself. When parents are distracted or irritated, it is natural for babies to cry to gain attention. Give your baby your full attention and there won't be any trouble. Having a new/old toy and/or comfort blanket helps.
In their on board luggage pack it full of new and old treats and favourites. Make sure you pack based on age
pencils/crayons
paper/colouring book
favourite toy
new puzzles
computer handheld game
ipod/iphone/ipad full of child appropriate apps, music, videos - earphones
snacks - check with airline for security issues
Make sure you have something different for each 15-30min intervale as they get bored.

Airline offers baby-free 'quiet zones' on flightsFor many of us (the childless ones, anyway), few things about flying are as excruciating as a crying baby. We know, babies have to travel too, but when you're trapped in an aluminum tube six miles in the air, nerves get rattled and fuses get short....
