Are there any good online sites for storing and managing photos?

I have thousands of photos with recent ones on my hard drive and older ones on removable drives.  They are organized in folders by year with sub-folders for each month.  However, there is no way to tag or search them and I often spend a great deal of time searching for a photo I want to use in a Hub.

I use Coroflot. You can upload A LOT of images and create multiple albums and move everything around with ease

I use Dropbox for backing up all my data to the "cloud".  Dropbox Basic is free and  has 2 GB.  Higher capacity comes with a charge.  It would easily work for photo management as well, but probably more for beginners since I imagine uploading thousands of photos to Dropbox would be insurmountable task.

Yes, you can use Smugmug.com, Picasa (from Google), Dropbox, and also Shutterfly.com.  You can arrange them anyway you normally would like to.  Good luck!

Personally I used Picasa from Google. There are two ways you can use Picasa.

    1) Simply use it as their online album. Where you can upload and manage pictures.
    2) Install their application on your PC and manage your entire collection.

I personally use the second option. I have Picasa application running on my Notebook. It scans and shows me a visual catalogue of all the pictures. I can then add tags, comments etc. AND the best part is, it will automatically update my Picasa web album too. You will need Google account. Any account with any of the Google services is fine.

Just a side note, currently I have about 7,000+ images that I comfortably manage using Picasa.

I have used Shutterfly for several years.  I like them, but I will be checking out some of the other options given in these answers as well.  Shutterfly has changed a lot and it gets more and more difficult to use and manage pictures.  I miss the old Shutterfly.

Hi Chuck, did you try http://evernote.com desktop version? This is the best one for any kind of your creative treasures including images, notes and many more. The option of tagging and searching is also available. You can create a free account with allowance of maximum 60 MB data per month but if you find your upload limit crosses 60 MB in each month then you may pay a little fee and enroll in premium account. So, have a look there, you will definitely like it. Thank you.

    Hi Chuck,
I use an ADOBE product - Photoshop at:
    http://www.photoshop.com/
Your photos are stored on a safe site in the event your system goes kaput.
You set up your email contact list and, you will have your personalized URl

I use Shutterfly for photo book production.
    Hope this helps.

I've used snapfish for about 7 years now. Their prints are high quality and organizing photos is simple.

The new windows version (Windows 7) makes it easy to tag all your photos. I found organizing my photos on my hard drive has never been so simple, but it's so much detail you can enter that it could take awhile to do 1000's of photos. Well worth the effort however.
