   Sure. More importantly, why can't anyone use this plant to see what it can do for them? People need to learn how to intelligently use this herb, which is amazingly safe compared to pharmaceuticals which kill 100,000+ Americans annually. Why do we need a doctor's note or government permission? I don't use it anymore, but I believe we, as a nation, need to come to terms with this plant that has thousands of years of safe and beneficial use history.

   Yes and it should be available in all the states .. especially for those under going kemo and radiation .. the side effects are brutal and this could help them bounce back quicker.

   Anything that kills pain has legitimate medical uses.
   Marijuana kills pain.
   
   Morphine is also a recreational drug.
   It is also a legitimate medicine.
   
   I don't think this is a question that even needs to be asked, really. The majority of the American population agrees on this issue. If it were put to a purely democratic vote, and every citizen 18yrs and older were to vote on it - the majority would be in favor.
   It's a government, FDA, and cashmonies thing...not a legitimacy thing.

   However, the problem is that since marijuana opens our Pineal Glands and higher thought, the government doesn't want anyone to use it, as this will make it very obvious that the government is evil, rogue, and is using us to do its dirty work.

   As someone who has cancer, I can legitimately say Yes! It works way better than the drugs I use to ease the pain, cut the nausea, relieve anxiety and help me sleep.
   
   I was not a habitual user prior to cancer and I do not plan to be once I am cured, but I believe even if used for recreational purposes, it's safe. It still helps to ease anxiety and relax people and I will always vote and support the legalization of marijuana.

   Ah! The age old question of the validity of marijuana in medical field. To answer your question in simple form, yes. Research world wide has concluded the many benefits this elusive drug has. For the United States of America, the legitimacy of foreign research is questioned only when it suits the FDA and Pharma-companies. A large portion of American research is Pharma-funded. So of course, the results of the research will hold the intrest of the financial backers of said research. Far and wide through the patchwork of our world, the United States of America is left in the dark, via technological, scientific, and pharmacological advancement. Our universities educate some of the brightest in the world, only to send them away with the downfall of the counties greed. From health care hospitals, to the pharmaceutical companies to the government, our health or lack of, is big money. Of course, I am not telling most of you anything you didn't already know. How does a cardiac center become the best in the nation, plenty of patients to practice on. Marijuana will never be a legitimate legal drug in the United States. At least not until the powers that be figure out a way to harness and secure the financial benefit and longevity of it. Simply put, the drug is too easy to grow and administer in raw form turning it into an issue of supply and demand. Americans are already taking a DIY approach to this multi-functional and legit drug. Pharma has nothing to gain by mass production. No matter what they charge it will always be cheaper to grow it. AND, so long as people keep maiming, tourturing, killing each-other as well as keeping it a legal issue, we will never see that change. There may be various states to open doors to it's legalization, but rest assured, there will always be powers that put self interest ahead of the people it serves. Wouldn't that be fantastic if they proved me wrong?

    A fabulous documentary called "The Union" explains the path that hemp and marijuana has taken over the years. It used to be the number one crop with so many uses in our society that it is incredible.
    
    It became illegal only after a taboo was put on it by government officials.
    It's medicinal value is very clearly laid out in the doc, and it's incredible that in this day and age it is not recognized as a major non pharmaceutical healer.
    
    There has NEVER been a death caused by marijuana, something that can't be said for pharmaceutical drugs that have side effects so major that the body's make up changes so drastically, that often the side effects can cause death. Hence the pharmaceutical companies don't want people using natural medicines to cure their illnesses.
    
    It is ridiculus that alcohol and cigarettes, which are so harmful and have caused so many deaths in our society, are legal, yet the herb that God put on this planet as a healing helper is no longer acceptable.
    
    The big loss is of course how much money the government loses every year by not legalizing it.
    
    You've gotta watch the doc; it explains it so well, I can't get over the controversy that has not only been created but believed by so many, even I had bought in until I saw the doc.

    I believe MJ has been clearly shown to help people with glaucoma.  Of course MJ can't be good for your lungs and I disagree with those who say MJ is not addictive; I think it is.  Of course so is alcohol, nicotine, pain killers, etc.  Per your question though, yes, I think MJ has some legit. medical uses.
