Would you rather have free contraceptives or cheaper gas?
I'm just askin...
But think about the questions behind the question.
Bring on the cheaper gas. If I had to worry about contraception, i would be in the history books!
Contraceptives are free here in the UK ... Condoms are easily attainable from doctors and health clinics as well as schools and higher education places. Pills are also free and can be bought for a cheap price from pharmacies.
So cheaper gas is the best solution.
if i had to chose it would not be gas. i'm glad it costs so much, it keeps people from wasting it on a whim.
Cheap gas. You can buy birth control for less than $10 a month at Walmart. Walmart should send the Georgetown Law School girls some advertising flyers. Maybe then they can get a clue.
Huuuuuummm rising gas prices were dumped in the lap of George Bush but somehow this Regime which has done more to escalate them than any previous Administration in the history of the country gets a pass; the caricature of Obama should be handing out Press Passes (get it the press keeps giving him a pass on this)
No brainer - unless your name is Sandra Fluke you can abstain from sex but you have to drive - even if you have to have so much (premarital) sex you can't afford contraceptives (like Fluke) the savings on gas can pay for your contraceptive. :-)
(free? nothing is free, somebody has to pay for it - enter the American taxpayer)
Gasoline of course. I don't need those funny looking balloons except maybe to fill with water and throw off the roof
one has to wonder if higher priced gas wouldnt make contracpton obsolete,... if you havent got the gas money to drive to your favorite parking spot,... your sure not gona have any sex,....
high gas prices may well drop the birth rate in trailer parks all through white trash america.
i say this a proud midwestern white trash american,... no red necks were harmed or knocked up in the making of this statement.
was that the question behind the question? ha!
I will take the cheaper gas any day! Although I'm a man, I still do care about having children to support. Contraceptives are important to me because I want to have kids when it is my time. Now is not my time lol.
Having said that, there are other means of protection against pregnancy available. If people are having sex with the same partner, and they know that their partner is safe, they shouldn't be as concerned about getting STD's but rather getting their partner pregnant (this is if both partners are staying monogamous).
Gas is just ridiculous lately! It's costing people a small fortune just to travel to and from work. Gas prices keep rising but most people are not getting raises at their job to keep up with the inflation. It's not like we can stop traveling to work so it's almost like getting demoted and taking a pay cut.
If like me, I am just fortunate to have a good job in this state of the economy. We need gas like a camel needs water.
Hmmm… my knee jerk reaction would be to lower the cost of gas. Then I figured it was worth the effort to put thought into this question. So I googled “cost of raising an American child”; or maybe I should call it, “when prophylactics FAIL – part 1”. With a single mother, not planning on educating the child past the publicly provided American education, the total cost for this calculator http://www.babycenter.com/cost-of-raisi … calculator is a whopping $152,340
I used those figures because the demographic who truly depends on ‘free’ birth control are those who tend to make the bad decisions where the income is low, the mother is unwed and the support of the child is, in some way, supported by ‘the system.’ Multiply this one by however many swimmers make it through. Our tax dollars at work.
Now the other second part to “when prophylactics FAIL”…
I googled, “medical cost for STDs”. Of course, being American, my results were geared toward the American stastics, “The total estimated burden of the nine million new cases of these STDs that occurred among 15-24-year-olds in 2000 was $6.5 billion (in year 2000 dollars)” (url. http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/journals/3601104.html). And that’s from 2000.
With all our cost increases lately, I’m certain that whopping bill is probably significantly more now. I wonder how many of them are receiving their care on taxpayer dollars. Hmmm...
For five minutes of research… I think I’m going to go with keeping the free birth control.
But then, my feet still work.
I'd rather have really high priced contraceptives (TAX THE FERTILE!) and FREE GAS. Which of course would be paid for by those horrible people with active love lives to subsidize those of us who...uh...
...never mind.
Dittos ghost32. For my part I'd opt for the gas hands down. But then anything that will keep Sandra Fluke from reproducing her kind is worth contemplating. Can't somebody get her a map to the nearest public health clinic? They're giving away birth control for free, uh just to make sure Sandy understands - free means you don't have to pay for it - the taxpayers are ALREADY picking up that tab.
well if it costs to much to meet to have sex then dont need contraceptives..but then again if everyone uses them, then welfare goes down and saves money for the goverment.
I can't stop laughing long enough to seriously answer this question. : )

I take birth control pills for medical reasons. I have PCOS. Without it, my hormones would be imbalanced and I'd be at risk for uterine cancer. There are many women like me. I find it disturbing that those who oppose covering birth control don't know this and equally appalled that those...

Gas prices are soaring as usual under Republican leadership. This will hurt middle and lower classes more than it does those who got the lions' share of the tax cuts. Not only do we have to repay the Chinese for the money we borrowed , we now have to pay higher prices for fuel. I hope those wanted...
