Why do you think so many people are waking up at this time in history?
The question really pertains to why so many people are questioning reality as other's hold on stubbornly to their narrow minded paradigm. Since I joined the WWW about four years ago I have seen a huge number of people start to question everything they ever learned and many of them were quite conservative.
In this age of new technology that makes even remote parts of the world accessible to everyone, people are beginning to see the atrocities and injustices going on around the globe. And, in turn, those that are oppressed are seeing that there actually is individual freedoms around the globe, and want the same thing for themselves, their families, friends, and their countries.
It is not too difficult for anyone with any kind of intelligence to see the oppression forced upon them by their governments and their restrictive superstitious religious beliefs that are only concerned with control over them.
Ignorance is the people's worst enemy. Knowledge is the worst enemy of our government and our religions. This fight for freedom will last until the death of the oppressors, their religious tormentors, or the people themselves. We can only pray that the winners will be the people.
I believe it is simply the Internet. People are so much more informed these days and are able to make more choices. Hub pages and other similar sites make it possible for people to communicate and share experiences. And people are spoiled because of the Internet. If sor some reason it is ever lost do to sun spots or some of the things they say could happen, that could be the end of the world as we know it. My opinion, Grteg
It was just a couple of years ago that I was hoping and praying that this would happen. Too many people seemed wrapped in denial and avoidance. I can see it in the hubs I wrote at the beginning, where I worried about too many people seeming to be asleep or with their heads in the sand.
I think the economy had a lot to do with it, and the wars. And like some others have already stated, the internet and the instant images that we are now capable to share. It's getting too harder for the media to keep lying to us.
However, now that they are "awake" let's see how long it takes to unite, and organize enough to make a positive difference. One can only hope.

Why are so many people selfish and mean, even to family members?Maybe I shouldn't be surprised any more, but why are so many family members selfish and hurtful to other family members? Life is precious, and flying by, and even if someone isn't your favorite person, why can't more just be kind...

Why are people hateful for no reason?I've noticed now on Hubpages, instead of just straight up answering a question, people will attack other people in their answer. For example, they start criticizing religious people when the question has nothing to do with religion. It's like their answer is...

Why do so many people look to people for answers that people don't have?"What does God look like?" type of questions really concern me. Which do you find more concerning...the one who asks the question or the one who answers like they know?

Why do some people like to be mean?I really struggle to understand why so many people who live in the same world as me get a kick out of hurting others, are happy as long as someone else is miserable and get horribly angry with jealousy when they see that someone (even a friend or a family member)...

Why do so many people think it's better to be in a bad relationship than to be alone?I enjoy my own company and I have so many crafts and hobbys that I love. Being alone is not a bad thing to me. I have three children and as we prepare to send the last one off to college my mind races with all the...
