I would say:"It's none of your business. But if you are really interested, give me your Facebook and Hubpages name and password. Then, I will give you mine". That's it! Your boss has to know where his authority ends.

If I ever encountered this problem, I would just say that I don't use Facebook or any social media. They wouldn't be able to force me to set up an account, just to see what sort of person I am.

I try to keep my Facebook as silly and inoffensive as possible so I have nothing to hide, but even so, that would be a pretty massive invasion of my privacy and therefore I wouldn't want to work for anyone who would ask such a thing.

I would tell my boss to get lost! It's none of his/her business! The only ones who know my password are my family and a close friend. Outside of work you should be allowed a life and interests without nosey and paranoid bosses stalking you to see what you're up to. If they insisted, I'm afraid I'd be telling them where to stick their job!

i would tell him no. i'm my own boss but if i wasn't, i would either say no or tell them i don't use either site. it's not their business about my personal life.

I would tell them no, that I keep my personal life and work separate.

It also depends on the industry that you are working in. I know that the local police department insists on the passwords to Facebook as part of the hiring/recruitment process. Its not out of the realm of possibility for a potential employer to ask for this and it also is a good reminder that everything you put on the Internet is traced back to you. Never post something that you would be ashamed or embarrassed for your employer to know about.
