The mega millions lotto is at a historic high of 540 million dollars what would you do with it?
If you won, what would you do with all that money? It's not like you can just cash that check at the bank lol. What would you do first to secure the money and then to invest/spend it etc?
I would personally take care of family/friends and then devote the rest to helping the working poor - the ones who don't have enough, but make too much for public assistance. I would do scholarships, figure out how to create jobs etc. What would you invest in?
After securing sufficient funds to look after friends and family, I would divide some of the money between various charities.
The rest, I would use to set up schools( with the brightest and best teachers that money can buy) in the most deprived communities of the world. Knowledge is power.
I'd claim in in the name of a trust (a trust within a trust if possible) and take 10% to go crazy with. The rest would go into savings, investments, and philanthropic endeavors. I would focus on helping the working poor, the homeless, and providing scholarships to deserving individuals of various ages and backgrounds.
Fair warning, I've given this a lot of thought.
First I would put between $10,000,000 and $15,000,000 away in either a bank account with a good interest rate, or some other investment that accrues interest and live off of said interest.
With whatever is left over after taxes, probably somewhere around $300 million, I'd start buying companies particularly pharmaceutical and food production and distribution companies. (I'm an Industrial Engineer, production and distribution are kind of what I do)
Every time one of my companies came out with a new product or advancement, which would become the primary goal of any company I purchase, between 10-30% of the new production capacity would be devoted to and provided at no charge to 3rd world countries.
The advances in technology were not brought about by any one person, people, race or creed. And there is no reason these advancements should not be shared. It's is completely unacceptable for people in a situation they did not choose for themselves to be punished for it while others have every means of helping them.
Now naturally this service would cut into the profits of these companies, but between the good publicity and the immense tax write-off this would be sure to bring about, I don't foresee it being that big of a problem. $XXX,000,000+ companies don't bat an eye at spending $1,000,000 if it will make them $10,000,000.
Someone needs to take the first step if any of these problems are to be solved.
We would tithe, pay off our mortgage, change our names so "friends"can't find us, take a month's vacation at The Excellence in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, buy an airplane, build our dream home in the mountains, buy several vacation homes, give money to adoption agencies, give our true friends money, engage the services of a good financial planner, and be contented!
I would buy a house and a car with cash. Set up a trust fund for disbursements, make some investments, and then give the rest away. I would only need about 6 million and the rest would go to charity. Actually I would like to set up a trust and make disbursements to all the people who played the lottery and lost, just to help them out a bit.
Thats quite alot of money. After the taxes were taken out, I'd pay off all my bills and student loans. Put a good chuck into a high interest account, that way its there and making more money. I'd give my dad and family, and by family I mean my close extended family is also included and give them some of it to pay off bills and what have you, cause they have all done so much for me. After that I would donate and invest some it. After that I would by a house or two. Ohhh...to dream.
I would give 99 percent of it away to worthwhile charities, organizations, and people. Then I would live simply.

If you won the lottery, say 10 million dollars, what would you do with the money?I would help...my church, a lot. I would put money aside for my children's future, buy a house and pay of my car, debts and put some aside for myself and my spouse, then I would spread the wealth around all family...
