    Jesus...not for religious reasons but because he conquered the Roman Empire. After his crucifixion his followers took the ultimate symbol of Roman domination over people, the cross, and made it their own as a sign that they didn't fear even the most brutal death. This confounded the Romans and left them without options to intimidate the followers of Christ. This twist on what they believed was a source of power castrated the emperors and governors to the point that they were exposed as simple tyrants without anything to offer humanity but evil. Many others have followed his example but he was the most effective political figure in history.

    In my opinion it was Sir Winston Churchill.
    Not only did he lead and inspire a small nation of people to stand together and fight back to keep their freedom, but he also pulled leaders from vastly opposing political views together to fight as one against a meglomaniac and his henchman.
    Sir Winston Churchill led from the front and proved that despite many setbacks in his political career that when the "chips are down" you stand tall and push forward.
