   How do you copyright a hub?
   
   Do you copyright your hubs. Why or why not? if so, what is the process?

   I believe under the help section, it states that we do not have to worry about copyrights because we are publishing through hubpages. All we have to do is let our readers know it is copyrighted. I throw it on all of my hubs just in case.  And of course always make sure my work is unique and original.

   Anything that you write is automatically copyright protected.  Many websites or authors use copyright statements, but truthfully, as soon as you publish something it is technically copyright protected.  For more information on this google "automatic copyright" and it will give you all the details on how it works.

   As Christin5 said, anything posted on HubPages is automatically copyrighted. There is nothing else that you need to do.

   to answer the broader question - you can also register your copyright [which as others point out you acquire automatically]   if you register, then you can also claim pinitive damages if someone copies your work..  but the chances are miniscule 1/ that someone will steal your work 2/ that you will be able to brimng a successful ccase against them in court and 3/ that you will actually be able to make them pay any judgment

   Christen and Luis are right - you do not need to put a copyright symbol on your hub.
   
   If it is your creative work (prose, poetry, photographs, videos, drawings, illustrations, etc.) you automatically own all rights to it.  It is up to you whether you grant permission to another to quote or cite your work.
   
   When someone publishes your work and passes it off as their own, it is a violation of copyright law, regardless of whether you put a little symbol on the hub or photograph.  Moreover, such a symbol will not deter the most egregious thieves of content, as we have recently seen.
   
   Anyone may file a DCMA complaint when their work is stolen, regardless of a formal copyright.

   Per United States law ... if you wrote it, you've automatically got the copyright to it.  You do not need to put the "c" symbol nor file any papers.   
   
   Same with photographers.  If you press the button on the camera.  That photo is automatically copyrighted the instant you press the button.
   
   All your Hubs are copyrighted.  All mines are too -- by virtue of simply writing it.
