Are you proud to be an American? If so, why or why not?
Having been to several countries, I am proud to be an American because beyond all our faults, we still live in a country that anyone can become a success if you put your mind to it. We have one of the best standards of living in the entire world, and though we have a wide array of differences, we most of us seem to be successful in living together and working to make life better.
I am not sure I can be proud of a circumstance that is (almost) completely out of my control. I am American, thats fine, and I couldn't be anything else.
Yes, very much so. I live in a country that gives all it's people the right to have anything we want as long as we are willing to work for it. I have the right to stay home with my children and moms who don't want to have the right to work. We have electricity, running water, cars. All things are possible. I'm thankful for that and fearful that if things keep up like they are we will no longer be the great country we are now.
Not only am I proud to be an American, I am damned sure glad that I live in the U.S.A.
This great nation has been good to me.
