Why do Christians who believe in Karma, leave out the reality that its ALL about reincarnation?
Karma is not just about what goes around come back around, its about being good in one life so your next life you will become someone or something greater. If you believe this, thats fine, but if you are a Christian who believes this, doesn't this go against God?
Hi, Brittles:
I honestly don't know much about this kind of thing, but I believe the Bible talks about its own form of "karma", but it's referred to as the "Law of Reciprocity" in some circles. This simply means that "a man will reap the crop he sows"; "if one lives by the sword one will die by the sword"; and "Judge not, lest you be judged in the same likeness and the measure you use will be used against you", etcetera. So, it seems, in a sense, that what one does will come back on them either as a blessing or as a curse.
Now, reincarnation is a different animal altogether. The Bible makes it very clear that every man is appointed to die once and after that...the judgement. Reincarnation is not a Christian principle, but has its roots in Hinduism and other pagan cults. I personally do not think Christians could harbor such a concept in their hearts, for to do so would be tantamount to calling God a liar.
ii3,
It all depends on how much of a bible scolar and or how literal you read the bible. I have developed a different slant on the holy book- I believe that when God inspired the writers he did not dictate word for word... so It is "the thought /meaning of God not necessarily his exact words...except when he is quoted "Moses...etc etc". Therefore even though reencarnation is a Hindu construct- I cant see why God couldn't say... "Try again...this time since you shot/hunted alligators you are a crocodile..." Again I bring back my Hubb that Gods got a sense of humor and isnt all fire wrath and brimstone-all the time. i really like what CJ said- "What you reap is what you have sewn". Although I part with CJ as calling God a liar- who says my time to pass wil be as a human.. maybe I'll be a mackeral when I go? So in that I do not subscribe to Hindu's case of humans beng the last stop before heaven- I gotta think the bomb sniffing dogs and other domesticted animals gotta get points too... Thats just me
I don't think Christians who believe in karma really understand where it orginated and they use it interchangeably with the Biblical principle of sowing and reaping. If Christians knew that karma is traced back to Buddhist and Hindu religions, I don't think they would refer to it all...espcially if they knew that karma is all about reincarnation - something that clearly has nothing to do with Biblical Christianity.

Why can't we just accept that other people have different lives and different experiences, and let them believe how they...

I have three children and as we prepare to send the last one off to college my mind races with all the...
