Can writing for long time change one's personality? Please share your experience.
Can writing make one more happy? can writing help with getting out of psychological issues such as depression? Can writing change one's mood, thought process?
I don't think it changes your personality for the worst. Depression is a case to case basis. It's more of an effect of some other things that you do during writing, but writing in itself is therapeutic. It allows you to express yourself even if you don't have the chance to talk to anybody, any person about it. It's true, writing changes your mood from time to time as you read more topics to write about. Sometimes you get saddened about bad news, or you get excited the next minute about an exciting news. The thing is you have the capacity to translate these moods into something that entertains your readers, and being a writer what entertains them makes you happy. It also broadens your perspective at the same time develop your analytic skills. It makes you less judgmental, as you open up your mind to all possibilities.
In this sense, writing improves your personality for the better.
I don't think it changes one's personality. I think it simply perhaps brings one or more other facets of a personality as one continues to write, because they accumulate experiences and provocative thoughts from what they've already written, or what they read, or they situation. The personality is already there.
It depends. If you write what you have in mind, it will never do a single change for you. But if while writing you try to gather the max of information about the topic you chose, then it would change because you'll be sharing with the others after reading their own experiences or opinions.
About mood, some people find in writing a way to leave the burden that hurts caused so writing definitely changes their mood.
I don't think so. i can only relate to you my own tendencies. If I'm depressed I tend to concentrate more on the very things that depress me. I suppose if you are disciplined enough you could write yourself out of your depression but I don't think so.
I've actually experienced a surge in confidence and self esteem, and I believe its mostly down to writing and all of the great feedback I've had. It gives you a real buzz and inspires you to write more. That's my personal experience anyway.
Writing can certainly change one's mood and control depression. Writing poetry especially can help express feelings otherwise locked up inside us. It somehow comforts the soul. Check out this hub as to why I write poems:http://diana-lee.hubpages.com/hub/A-LONELY-HEART-WAITS
Writing anything with a passion will make one happy. I have explored many topics and many genres. I'm finding myself as I work on the voice I want to incorporate into each style. The more practice I get the more inspiration I gather from my audience as to their valuable comments.
Writing definitely changes one's perspective and helps in developing it - you begin to see things, people's lives...our life differently. I don't know about getting out of depression but writing certainly can be a portal to extreme escapism.
For me - Writing my characters and their stories make me happy - changes my mood and so on. I've learnt a lot about myself along the way and sometimes, re-reading a written record of your realizations and observations can help provide answers or confidence.
Whether you write only for yourself or to share with people, writing does affect perception but in a good way.

I have been on Hub Pages about a year and I have written about 27 Hubs and they have received close to 5000 views, which I felt was not bad and my status hovers between 82-88. Last week I had about 8 of my Hubs featured, which again seemed ok. Now magically overnight, I have all these codes now...

I am pretty insulted. Sorry, but it had to be said. I had written an article on here that had done really well. In fact, it was one of my top earners. I went to answer a comment on it, and I stared at it for at least five minutes. I no longer recognised it! The photos had been changed, the writing...

When you write are you secretly hoping to change the world? Or a least a small portion of it?Writers tend to see the world in a different light, I'm just wondering how many would hope to change the world with their words, if they could.
