What are some of the methods you have used to defeat writers block?
It seems that at some point all writers experience some level of writers block. From your own experience what would you suggest to a fellow writer who is having trouble writing.
I talked about the W'sB on these pages, a few years ago ... but reckon there is nothing wrong ... in stating the stated, once again ... to help a fellow writer.
While ... dealing with the "limited" Mundane ... and not, The Truth ... the writer's "IDEAS-WELL" dries up and there is nothing more, to Draw ... at least until ... the Eternal Spring of Reality ... Re-fills the Ideas Well.
Writers ... especially Fiction Writers ... follow ... what in their Idea ... is, the ... or could be ... the Ideal Plot, or Format.
The Writers Block ... Is the Mind, saying ...
"Forget about ... what you think, is a good Plot ... Come back to the folds of Reality !"
To Revive ... you should heed the Mind's call ... Go back to the Natural ... forget about the Material ...
If I'm stuck looking for new material, I'll go back to old projects or ideas that I have never finished. I'll reread what I've done and see if it sparks an interest in completing the project or see if it leads to a new idea. I keep my old ideas in a file so that I can go back to them. Also take one of your ideas and instead of trying to write "cold turkey," start asking yourself questions about that idea. Make a list of your questions and answers. You never know where they might lead.
The one I use most frequently is to simply go to bed for a good night's sleep. Almost invariably I awake with something about which to write...except if I get "down" and figure nobody wants to hear what I have to say anyway...that mood passes, too, so back I go! Answering questions on HubPages usually generates things, too. Sometimes, being the 'audience' does it too, reading stuff without TRYING to come up with a topic.
Once I wrote about having writer's block.
I also turn to nature, or take a topic I've previously written about and break it down. Say you write about finance, maybe I'd then write about the history of cash designs around the world (interestingly, America's bills are quite boring compared to the rest of the world).
I may also say to myself, "What something I really like/dislike?" and go from there.
It depends on what you write about; I like to write humorous articles and when my funny hormones aren't flowing through my brain like they are supposed to, I feed my brain copious amounts of comedy, from my favorite movies to some of my favorite websites, like Cracked.com or Funnyordie.com
Basically, take yourself back to the places that inspired you in the first place.
