Will there be another Falklands War between Britain and Argentina?
Not at the moment. It depends if the south america's continue to get behind argentina and feel strongly enough about them to support them militarily - even then, they would probably find it difficult to capture the island.
It also depends on whether we weaken militarily as right now; although we are just building new aircraft carriers, our nuclear submarines, high tech frigates and destroyers and typhoon fighter jets are many leagues beyond anything argentina could hope to possess.
Chances of a war in the next century - 50/50
Chances of a war in the next decade - 90/10 against
Probably eventually, the UN has increasingly been supporting Argentina on the issue and with South America becoming a more unified continent it might well happen, I don't expect it will happen soon but it could, and it might get very messy if the other South American nations get involved.
I don't think there is any evidence to suggest the UN supports Argentina at all. Argentina want to have discussions via the UN, the UK is refusing; that is not the same as support. Spain and a few S.American countries support Argentina, but no others
I sincerely hope not. We have enough soldiers coming home in boxes each week from Afghanistan. I think Argentina likes to stir it up now and then just to make sure we know they haven't forgotten. Part of me fears that it will come to blows because of some extremist who'll make it flare up again.
It seems that every time either the Falklands or Gibraltar is mentioned, the other one makes a fuss too!
I think it is unlikely to happen for the simple reason that there has never been a war between two parliamentary democracies and both Britain and Argentina are that.
The present Argentinian president is just racheting up the temperature because their economy is shit and she wants some cheap popularity in advance of the next elections there. The Argentinians also want to get their hands on the oil and gas in the seas around the Falklands. They should shut up. They never owned the islands and they never will.
Well most of that is incorrect, the economy in Argentina is good (8.5% growth last year) the president won the last election by a very very long way, she got 76% of the vote, and Argentina did own the FI and their claim is asserted by The Hague.
Thats the story in our media josak, whats the story in yours?
I doubt it as Britain is rather short of cash at the moment what with the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee to pay for. Plus we beat them last time so I don't think they would risk another defeat.
I honestly do not think the argentinians are dumb enough to risk a war that they will surely lose.
I don't necessarily agree with Britains' possesion of the island but a war is not something that will happen anytime soon. That is, unless Argentina can gain leverage, militarily speaking which is tough considering their current situation.

Since oil was found in the waters around the British Falkland Islands Argentina have renewed their claims over the Islands and have gained support from many of their South American neighbours.Despite the fact that the Falklands have been British for 300 years, that all of the people who live there...

Between a doer, a spectator and a thinker, who do you consider yourself to be?I came across a quote and it made me wonder how people tend to view themselves?“There are three types of people in this world:those who make things happen, those who watch things happen andthose who wonder what happened.We...
