What do all the parents out there think of the high stakes testing in our schools today?

Just about every school all over the United States has some kind of standardized test for their students to take, what do you think about them?  Are you for them?  Are you against them?  Do you think they give us real data or what?

In our elementary school, they literally go nuts over the test. It's like our kids are walking test scores instead of human beings. They went so far as to send notes home with students reminding the parents to feed our kids breakfast and make sure they sleep. The test is everything. I think some testing is good -- but our schools have gone way overboard.

I think it's too much in our area. They spend a whole week filling in bubbles, instead of learning.

    Great comments.
Daniel, I totally agree with you.  Our school is exactly the same, but all the pressure is sent from the top.  We have been told that if our students don't perform we are out of jobs.  It is crazy, because I get an hour and half with my students each day.  I don't get to go home with them and make sure they read, do their homework, get fed, go to bed, or anything like that.  You are at the mercy of the students that you are dealt.

If you were given the freedom and the flexibility to teach the human being, instead of teach the test, our kids would be better off.
