Can anyone give suggestions on marketing self-published books
With technology the way it is can anyone give advice on how to successfully market a self published book or find affordable marketers to endorse the book?
I believe I set out the various processes in making your book a best-seller in my hub page- Promoting and Selling Your Book.
I plan on using the marketing program provided by the publishing house I'm using and then marketing on my own through a variety of networks including Google+ and Facebook. I also have made friends with several authors that hold interviews and chats both with other authors and with readers, since all my author friends write in different genres from mine there are no competition issues to worry about. I write fantasy so I'm also planning on attending conventions, conferences and other assorted events.
Many people will not buy books when they find out it has been self-published so don't tell people your book is self-published.
Create a fan page for it on facebook. Get yourself a twitter acct too. And link the two together. Post stuff about your book on the fan page and some samples, etc. Join Pinterest as well and share your book on there. It's always great to have a website so make one for yourself if you don't have one already. You can make one for free at webs.com.
Place your book onto book sharing sites like goodreads.com and weread.com and create an author profile there.
Also join google+ and talk about your book there.
Hope this helps a little and gives you some ideas.
I have not published yet, but I have been advised by a couple of popular authors (I pester them for advice- and some respond!) to join some of the writer organizations like Mystery Writers of America, Horror Writers of America, or whatever genre fits you. I went to the websites of authors that inspire me and checked out which ones they recommend or belong to (look on the "Links" page) and researched from there. Many of those organizations have events that allow you to meet publishers, publicists, agents, etc.
I have my own website. I also made business cards with my books names on it, where to find them, and my hubpages. Vista print makes beautiful business cards. I leave them in hotels by computers when I travel, you can also use facebook, twitter and other sources to promote your books. Its like having your own business you have to want to sell your product. Plus my husband travels all over the country and outside the country and gives out my business cards as well.
With using your business cards as a promotional tool do you see any sales?
Yes my sales have grown since using business cards
