   Significant drops in traffic since HP updated the module layouts?
   
   My traffic has dropped by over half since HP the structure of the hub modules.  Anyone else experience this effect?  Maybe Google Penguin?

   Yes, I can say that I see the same.  The traffic has dropped by half.  I thought it was the time for my punishment for doing nothing - no writing, no reading, no commenting.
   
   Maybe HP do not want to pay that much money to authors?  I don't see the tags at the side of articles either, the buttons for printing and converting into pdf format are also gone.

      The drop in traffic happened on April 24th when Google implemented the Penguin update. The changes to the hub layout were done after that in response to Penguin as an effort to bring back the traffic. HP explained all this in the announcements forum.

      HP may have explaine the reason for the change in their April announcement was that it bing in more traffic, but it most definietly has not brought in more traffic. It has dropped my traffic considerably.

   I agree. Also, I don't think the new layouts are as pleasing to the eye as the old format.

   I have experienced a bit of a drop as well, but it seems to be getting slightly better lately.

   Forgive my typos.  My traffic has dropped by half since HP restructured the modules.  If this was done because of the penguin update, then I don't believe it's working.  Even my academic hubs are getting hammered.

   I think it is because of the penguin update. It sucks but that's Google for you. We just have to hope it will get better soon. I still love HP, just hope everything gets fixed.

   Thank goodness you mentioned this, I was questioning what I had done to upset the Gods at Google. I still don't like floundering in obscurity but it is better with company.

   Personally, I hate the new look, although it does focus the reader more on the content, it takes away from the fun when you post with pictures and so on - so to me it's a mixed bag. But my earnings and views started dropping before the HP changes - and for the most part, I am very pleased with the way HP handles things here. This time, the changes are not helping to bring earnings and views back to where they were - and to top it off, my most popular hubs are subjects one might choose before all these animal changes at Google.
   
   So I really see nothing that helps well written articles become more popular rather than spammy material, but one thing is for sure, all these changes are reducing the amount of money we are making from Adsense, and I wonder if THAT is the ultimate goal - that somehow Google has to pay less to its contributors.

    I'm not techie enough to answer much about the cause of drops, but kallini2010's suggestion that "maybe HP does not want to pay that much money to authors" is way off base. Check out how the Apprentice Program works and you'll see that that's quite opposite of HP's attitudes towards writers.
