    Do we really need all the "new" drugs the pharmceutical companies are constantly advertising?

    Or is it just to increase their sales and bottom line?

    First of all, the picture you have posted is so striking and eye catching. Congrats! Regarding your question, I do not think, we need so many drugs in the first place. By taking care of our health, taking the right kind of diet, doing regular exercises, we never need these drugs. Some of the medicines have very serious side effects.

    No we do not need all the new medicines.  The industry is just very money hungry and do not forget, this industry drives our country today.  If the pharmacueticals were to fail, so would our economy!  That is how large this industry is.  What a monster!

    not in the least. it sickens me when i see how many people think "legal" drugs will fix everything. we are at a point where we use drugs for things that we could fix ourselves if we just made an effort.

    Of course we don't but modern medicine and drugs have come a long way and helped a huge number of people. Most of these drugs do more or less the same thing and the companies are just vying for profit.

    It is just plain old competition, same reason most of us are on HP,
    MJ.

    i don't think so. Nowadays, it seems like the medications have more side effects than benefits, and the side effects ar alarming. Some of these meds scare me.

    It depends on the drug in question. Do we need more "Me Too" drugs that are similar to those in the same drug class? Probably not. But what we need that is being developed are the new antibiotics and chemotherapy agents to help us combat diseases that are either becoming harder to treat or simply have no viable options currently.
