Should people be required to obtain life insurance rather than health insurance?

When people die who don't have life insurance it creates a huge burden for the family.  However, not having health insurance tends to impact the person who doesn't have it much more than others.  Someone posed this question while talking about the new healthcare bill and I wondered what others thought.

I think no one should be forced to buy anything. If anything services should be denied for someone unable to pay for the service. As for deaths, if someone can't afford a burial there is a simple solution either donate the body to science or cremate.

Oh, so a homeless man struck by a car through no fault of his own should be turned away from the ER because he can't pay for it? What a wonderful society that would be. You are "forced" to buy auto insurance if you have a car. Why is that acceptable?

Low income people have other options free clinics, payment plans, and many churches who set up entire funds to help these people with bills, along with Medicaid for some. My car can hurt someone, my occasional lack of insurance does not!

Interesting question......Anyone without insurance experiencing a death or medical issue will create a burden on the system and create higher health care costs for all. Everyone should have the opportunity for affordable health care and life insurance.

People who die without life insurance only put a burden on the family if they want it to.  Today cremation is relatively cheap, and donating the body to science is certainly an option.   Families are not necessarily obligated to pay any of the debts of the deceased.
Getting sick without health insurance puts burdens on every tax payer and everyone who actually carries their own health care insurance.  We are mandated to buy insurance before we can purchase property, get a mortgage, get a drivers license in most states, and buy automobiles, boats, etc...            Are these mandates considered taxes?  I think not.  The GOP would have you believe that by keeping our healthcare coverage at a reasonable rate will somehow cost more than the burden already put upon us by those who refuse to buy their own health insurance.
This is the only "civilized?" country that fights to keep people uninsured to protect the insurance provider.   That is truly bizarre.

When one doesn't have insurance and becomes ill, it does impact all of us because of the costs that the ill person is not able to pay.  It causes all of our medical bills to be higher to cover those that cannot pay.

Life insurance is important but it doesn't have the public impact that no medical insurance has.
