Do you support or buy from any company if they are against your moral stand i.e., same sex marriage?
In broader sense, do you support companies who don't have the same stand as you in terms of social issues in general? For example a company which does not support gay marriage or any other social issues which are deem important for you. if they are different with your belief, do you still buy products from them, or it does not matter as long as the services are good?
This is an easy one. If I will refuse to vote for a president due to his/her stance on a particular social issue, I will certainly boycott a company (or its services) due to their stance. For a more specific answer - I will not (knowingly) support a company that supports same sex marriage.
Hi Kevin,
Were you aware of Starbucks support for same sex marriage?
Hi Kevin, thanks...Ok, I understand your position!
I think every consumer has a vote with each purchase they make. Thus, if I buy products from Cambodia, which is a country where child labor laws are not enforced, then I would be supporting child labor. So, I watch the labels where products have been made and as a general rule, I try to support local producers.
I stay away from places such as Wall-mart, McNasty, etc ...
Fair enough, more people are agreeing with you in this question.
In this day and time companies are like politicians. They feel as though they must be politically correct as to not offend anyone. What has gone wrong is that is not the MORALS this great country was founded upon. With what is "Politically correct" now would make our forefathers role over in their graves. But, It has gotten so bad if you do not buy from them you would probably starve. Unless you want to eat at Chick-Fil-A everyday. And I most certainly try and buy american made as much as possible.
Some businesses don't want to out their customers, the next question is, does a business need to endorse their position at all?
Good point. No they don't. But, That was your question?
I could care less about a company's stand on gay marriage. (I doubt that most companies take any public stand on most social issues anyway.) I would only consider boycotting a company if they produced dangerous products, polluted the environment heavily, or mistreated their workers.
Some companies do not mix business with what the management believe in, specially social issues!
I do try my best at placing my money in the hands of people and entities that are in line with my moral beliefs; now it should be noted that before I was a father I was not concerned about this and I do not always know an individual's or entities' stand on moral issues; therefore, I may perhaps be unaware in some instances and supporting something that is counter to my morality. I did stop drinking Starbucks coffee about a year ago primarily because of their proactive stance in supporting same-sex marriage. I do not expect anyone else to support my decision in this matter and I am not trying to influence others in this regard (directly); however, this is one small way in which I personally feel better (inside) by taking a significantly perhaps, insignificant stance.
It is your call, and it is what you believe in, so you have the right not to buy something from Starbucks.
Thanks for commenting!
Most definitely, I will not buy nor vote for anything or anyone that does not espouse a philosophy based on what is truly important.
And what is truly important is what you believe in? Thanks for commenting yoginijoy!
Nope. Almost every major company in the world does something unmoral or something someone will take offense to - regardless of how small or large. When looking into the question most of the times it leaves us making hypocritical choices every day.
Example:
I dont like companies outsourcing to China and would want to buy American made products. I shop cheaply at Walmart.
~thranax~
I can see your point, that's a classic case in point - shopping at Walmart and of course those who don't have choices just choose the cheapest.
I suppose it depends on if you wish to make an issue of your own personal feelings, just because you think you are right doesn't make the other side wrong. It really is all about how you feel personally.

States Supreme Court, why ARE there SOME opposed to this basic human right? What are they REALLY FEARFUL of? LBGT Americans have the same basic rights as other Americans. It is about time that people realize this.

Do you strongly contend that the complete legalization of LGBT rights is humane or a slippery slope? Why? Why not?

I believe we are as human kind we should defend our human rights and our wellness from any harmful act such as same sex; so, let's come together to protect our human rights and keep our society safe for us and next generation; it's our responsibility to say "no" for same sex because it's...

Same sex marriage - Equality or Not for gay people?Ireland recently voted 68% to 32% by referendum to allow same sex marriage, the first country in the world to do so. Is this true democracy at work? How do you view the decision - is it good for a whole country to be given the chance to vote on...
