I'm not sure we actually know what our biggest fears are until they appear. I know my son, and only child,  was born with congenital heart disease and even after open heart surgery at the age of four years, I feared for his life. He died in 2011 at the age of 51. I understand how blessed I was to have him those years and tried diligently not to let him know how fearful I always was -- hopefully I accomplished that and he never knew or felt burdened by my fears. I also think we all have little "phobic" fears -- like I'm afraid of heights and flying -- but make myself do them so I don't feel like such a wuss! I've found that a fearful emotion takes its toll on one and try diligently to avoid such -- and occasionally am successful.

My biggest fear is not faced yet. It is still lurking around. I don't know when it will emerge, but I that know sooner or later I will have to face it. And once I've encountered it and get over it, I wouldn't be around to tell that I'd faced my biggest fear - DEATH!

When I was a "Christian," in order to get me to fully devote my life to Jesus, one of the people in the ministry over me told me that my mother could die if I didn't get in line. I was about 14 or 15 years old at the time. I got in line. And was an emotional wreck form then on when it came to my mother and her "salvation" and blah blah blah.

Recently I overcame my fear of needles by having accupuncture done in my face for sinus infections. I also have my nose reconstructed after 20 years. It was a huge personal fear of surgery and also there was a chance it might not work. But I'm glad I did it. And thankfully it worked!!!

The biggest fear I ever faced was when I became a father. Here you have these little ones you're now responsible for. The questions run through your mind, will I raise them the right way?, will I be a good father? and so on. Sometimes it is overwhelming.
