A Sudden Massive Drop in traffic to one of my hubs

    Hi,
I wrote a Hub about 2-3 months ago which was getting pretty decent traffic (150-200 views daily), when suddenly yesterday it dropped to about 30 hits. I thought it might rise back again but it hasn't changed much. Most of the traffic came through organic search of course (google).

Does anyone here can give me an idea why it just happened? I haven't really done any external backlinking of my hub, most of the links were internal (from hubpages). do you think doing some backlinking just now will improve the traffic. though I am sure it's not the problem.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Type in the first two sentences of your hub in to Google search and make sure you are not the victim of content theft. That is a familiar occurrence for articles that are doing very well. If you find it has been stolen it can be reported.

thanx for your response. I ran a google search of opening sentences. even checked it on copyscape for similar content but this doesn't seem to be the problem.

As Ddraigcoch says, check for duplicate content.  However, there are a few others experiencing a sharp drop in traffic over the past couple of days - see this forum thread http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/101853.  Suspicions of another Google update.

It'll say page not found because there is a period on the end. Just click the link and then delete the comment try to search again. You'll get to the page then smile

Yeah I have heard about this happening a lot, I think it is going to be increasingly common as times goes on, well done though for getting that many views a day on it, that is impressive even if it wasn't for an extended period.

Well i wasn't hoping it to last forever (as it was about few gadgets and topics like these are destined to suffer low traffic eventually), but i wasn't expecting a sudden drop in traffic like this either.

I've noticed a drop as well. Of course.... i'm new to the site so i'm not getting as much traffic as you probably are, but I still noticed quite a bit of a drop. The other day I noticed traffic going slow, so I edited my hubs up some. Added some pictures, changed some wording around, etc. and I noticed a rise in traffic that day, but only that day. Ever since then its been really low

sounds to me like you might be the traffic to your hubs. It does count your own views, I didn't realise until a few days ago. Welcome to hubpages!

Not sure if you all are still having this problem, but I just went from a steady 200 vpd to almost 0. I've checked for duplicate content thru copyscape as well as copy paste into google browser. In fact, it seems that my hubs have disappeared. I can't find them on google unless I add the term 'hubpages' and then they show up. Maybe I'll post a separate question for this issue.

well it's not the same  but surely it's a similar problem, as now after dropping from 200, my hub traffic has settled down to a figure around 20-30. one of my other hubs which was getting around 30-40 hits is now getting under 10 vpd.
