Is it hypocritical for those who didn't support 9/11 responder aid to capitalize on 9/11 grieving?

"For me, this is a day to remember those who perished on that day of terror, including the first responders." -Paul Ryan who twice voted against the Zadroga Act

"...We honor those who fought to try to save some of those who died..." -Eric Cantor who twice voted against the Zadroga Act

The problem was with the way the bill was marked up out of committee. There was an extra 3 Billion tacked on in pork, plus room for an extra 2 Billion in extra spending.

I'm not really going to comment one way or the other, but they really could have picked a better bill to fight over.

      hi Billy,

All true in my opinion. The question is not why they didnt vote for the bill. The question is are they hypocritical for courting people's grief when they would not support the families in a meaningful way.

I won't go so far as to call it hypocritical, but it's definitely distasteful for anyone to try and politicize a National Tragedy.

I dont know all the ins and outs of the bill, but nothing is ever as it seems in politics.  The fact that they make statements in memory of that day is simply that, a statement in memory.  To assume they make statements like that to garner support and those on the opposite side of the aisle are doing so out of the goodness of their heart is ignorant at best.

      Hi Jdavis.
No one said the other side was doing it for the goodness of their heart. 155 republicans voted against it with 4 democrats as well.
How do they justify memorial and not life support? politics aside, is it hypocritical of the individual?

If politicians voted for Zadroga Act, they might feel it would be an admission that the government was guilty of wrong doing. After all, the EPA said the air was safe!

Yes, I find it hypocritical. I find it entirely loony that they continue to ignore the major felony from the destruction of evidence at the largest crime scene in American history. And when those who were responsible for the failure to protect our skies were promoted instead of court martialed, I suspect coverup.

I also find it hypocritical that the government continues to ignore the mounting evidence that the official story is full of holes. Even the chairman of the 9/11 Commission decried the fact that the government didn't cooperate. In fact, he said that it was set up to fail.

Note: People continue to die because of 9/11!

Note: Liberties continue to be lost in the name of 9/11!

Note: Fiscal insanity is killing America, justified by 9/11!

Stop the lies and the killing! We need an unbiased, independent investigation with subpoena powers.
