I absolutely love Christmas!  So, I always start planning really early.  My husband and I host a Christmas Eve party for both of our families every year.  We have about 15-20 people and serve dinner buffet style.  I usually make chicken parmesan with penne, spaghetti and meatballs, and sweet and sour chicken with rice as the main dishes.  I've also made chicken marsala in the past.  I vary the appetizers, desserts, and beverages each year but keep the main dishes the same because I'm experienced with their preparation.  I buy Christmas gifts all year long and already have a few.  If I hand make gifts, I start those in the summer sometimes.  My husband and I decorate the tree together, sometimes with family, and do other holiday activities in our area.  I would love to hear what you and others do!

Wow Angela, that sounds incredible! I want to come to your Christmas Eve dinner! smile  We've only ever really celebrated Christmas Lunch, so I look forward to starting a new tradition soon.  It's home-made gifts for us this year - gourmet cookies! smile

Yes! I've already purchased several gifts. With nine grandchildren, I have to start shopping and buying early. I try to take advantage of good sales and discounts I find throughout the year.

Habee - every year I say I'll start buying early and I never do! Or I buy and then use those gifts for birthdays, etc. Good plan to start early - means you miss out on all the price escalations as we get closer to Christmas smile

I have already started gifts, I actually start gifts with all the sales from the previous year so that way I get super killer deals on most stuff.  If it's clothes or something I wait until the school year rolls around and hit up those killer sales too smile  It's always a blast getting ready for christmas.  The hardest part for me is finding places to hide everything since the kids are getting older LOL

What a great idea! If I can do that this year, then I definitely will.  I can't stand the way that the stores push up the prices as we get closer to Christmas.  This year everyone is getting home-baked cookies. But will keep in mind for next year smile

I love Christmas, but this year is going to be like last year.  Due to low finances, I am making all my presents.  I have not started yet, but I have some yarn that I am going to make a few crochet items as presents.  I also have some quilt tops I made about a year ago that still need to be hemed.  I think I will pull those out and finish them to give as presents.  For my nephew, I am going to give him my speakers that he seems to like.

Yay! Someone else who is also making gifts this year. Mel, I'm in the same boat as you - having just taken up full-time freelancing there are won't be money for those kind of luxuries. I'm looking forward to getting creative in the kitchen though! smile

Started on gifts, or at least the ideas. I'm planning to make most of my gifts this year, so I'll have to start working on them pretty soon.  I only know that I'll be making a decoupage clock, and some candles. Haven't decided much past that.

That sounds awesome! Very creative, and I think that home-made gifts are much better sometimes. This year we're also doing home-made due to finances. I'll be making some cookies and putting them in little boxes or jars.  Quite excited actually smile
