An Electoral College Tie? How do you think that would go down with the left?
Nate Silver reports that the possibility of an electoral college tie is a real possibility if President Obama holds the states Sen. John Kerry won in 2004 along with winning New Mexico and Ohio in addition. "The election would then be thrown to the House of Representatives, which would cast votes based on the provisions of the 12th Amendment. Mitt Romney would probably win such an election, because Republicans will probably control a majority of state delegations in the incoming House of Representatives."
I think our left wing cartoon characters would have their shorts way up their crack. They are already threatening to riot if Obama loses. Imagine how much fun we could have with cracking those noggins. They'd get in more of a frenzy than they do when I write about voter fraud. They would act like someone killed the Pope I'm sure.
The Frog
Balderdash! We'll who takes this election by force!
I believe he rules dictate that the house would select the president and the senate picks the VP. That means you could have Romney as the President and possibly Biden as the VP. That would be a first, and interesting.
Interesting? If that were to happen I guarantee Biden would change his stripes and thank God that he can remain a career politician.
Crazy Uncle Joe needs to be pastured along with Oblabber Mouth.
Probably true. Biden would likely swith teams faster than Ryan would for Obama if the opposite happened. I think Ryan and Obama are more idealogical and far apart. Biden is about hearing his own voice.
By "left", I assume you mean the Democrats. I'm sure they would make a fuss. But as you pointed out, they could not do anything about it. It would be likely that the count in certain states would be disputed before anyone would allow the election to go into the House. There were scandalous election disputes in 2000 and 2004 that showed us that even a majority in one state could be overturned. Traditionally in the US, close elections are very dangerous for our liberty.
"I assume you mean the Democrats" Duh! Of the two parties concerned where do you find the left? I guess I could have qualified my question more by saying the Looney Left,Communist Left,Socialist Left,Radical Left but theyall vote Democrat, don't they?
I don't think it would go down well with anyone. Let's face it. If it's a tie and Romney winds up President, there will be an outcry. If it's a tie and Obama winds up President, there will be an outcry.
They've predicted a high percentage chance for a tie before though. So far it hasn't happened.
An outcry is one thing - rioting in the streets is another. Don't think Republicans would riot in the street under any circumstances but the left organizes riots all the time. Many of the occupy wall street protests were nothing but organized riots
Riots need financing just like anything else. Romeny will ensure the 1% holds onto 60% of the power.

What's the point of voting for the presidential election? The president is decided by the electoral college, and even if they tie, I believe the president is then decided by the House of Representatives. So why should we vote? And why are there so many ads that want us to vote?

Clinton's popular vote win was basically her win in California - by 4 million + votes. Take California away from Clinton, and Trump wins by a landslide. The Electoral College prevented this bias of one state forcing it's will on the rest of the nation - which is why it was put into place when the...

This is where the analogy ends. For all the things Donald Trump is, he is certainly no Luke Skywalker. There has been increasing rumblings as of late from the GOP mainstream that it has had it with Trump's endless supply of bull$hit.Senator McConnell, otherwise known "affectionately" as...

Now that the Electoral College has confirmed Trump, can the nation start to heal and work together? The Electoral College has confirmed Donald Trump as the next President. Faithless Elector counts were 2 from Trump's totals and surprisingly 4 from Clinton's totals. Even arch-rival John...

I may be a bit naive on this topic, but I believe that my vote should count. I understand the history and all, but I still think one's vote should count, and the candidate who receives the most votes should win. What are your thoughts. Please help me to understand why the...
