   Do you have some examples of "The New Normal"?
   
   I'm a little old school. (ok, a lot ) and am not exactly sure what this means. I'll try. Seems like girls and women use the "F" bomb in speaking more often and more casually than men do. In the day, you never heard a girl use that word. Is that the new normal? I need more examples.

   A common expression today is "these ones." when saying "these" has already identified what a person is talking about.  Other things that are "the new normal" are spending beyond our means, too little family time, feeling that we have to continually be doing something that entertains us, getting fatter and fatter sitting and sitting, constantly pushing the speed limit and then blaming "the cop's quota" when we are ticketed, athletes supposedly being worth more than doctors, lawyers, school teachers, and other professionals, houses far larger than our needs (especially given the scant time we spend in them,) and the seeming irrelevance some people find churches have in these "sophisticated times."  That's not to mention the billions spent on pets while needy children starve to death.

      "these ones" oh cringe... I don't hear that in my area but everyone here "seen" things they "saw".  I fear speaking improperly has become the new norm... sigh.

   Our health insurance costs more than our mortgage. A thirty minute commute each way can cost more than you need to feed a family of four for a day. The air in LA is cleaner than it was 20 years ago, but you do not dare make a habit of drinking tap water. Doctors and Lawyers used to be respected. You can telephone almost anywhere in the world for cents on the minute. And lastly, anymore Sh-t don't mean Sh-t.

   The new normal is that the US has a drought costing $25 billion, experiences the hottest year in the history of the lower 48, sees the Arctic sea ice (already in a tailspin) decline to roughly 15% below the previous record low (2007), suffers a cyclonic storm hit on New York costing perhaps another $50 billion and 110 lives--and the Presidential candidates never mention climate change.

   Weaves and hair extensions. EVERYBODY has them now. All hairtypes, textures, and ethnicities. Just about every female news broadcaster has extra hair hanging down to their shoulders. What IS that? Jeeeeezzz!!!

   It is now normal that women are allowed to act.
   Normal people no longer believe that the world is flat.
   Using guns instead of swords is the new normal.
   An elected leader, or a dictator is the new normal. We no longer live in a world loaded with divine right kings and queens.
   Wearing synthetic clothing is now normal.
   It is normal for the average citizen to be able to read.
   Human sacrifice is certainly no longer normal.

   I guess that phrase can mean almost anything, but it actually began with Mohamed El-Erian of PIMCO in relation to the impact on US economic growth as the nation as well as foreign nations began delevering.

   The "New Norm" is so 15 seconds ago. It's been replaced by the "Extreme Norm"....which has now been replaced by the "Neo Norm" and due to be replaced by the "Norm Nuvo" in 4...3...2....
   
   The family tree is something more like a spaghetti map of parents, step parents, step parents' boyfriend and their boyfriend's step kids.
   
   Really....much of the new norm is the same as the old norm, just much faster paced and covered by the media.

      Hey, Cre8tor, will you keep posting things like this to keep people my age up to date.  My adult kids love it when they hear me use current terms like "neo norm".  or "norm nuvo".  It makes my wrinkles less noticeable !

   The New Normal is to look like you are 30, when in fact you are 60 or 70.
   
   The new normal is to have a cell phone glued to a body part, so you can talk or text all day, or better yet to have an iphone. Young people no longer talk with each other when eating. Instead they text each other.
   
   The new normal is to be very careful about what you write about on Hubpages, otherwise it will get zzz'd, because only a few people are reading it.
   
   The new normal is talking about Google like it is a dirty word. It might become one.

      You're right about the phones. Isn't it amazing how you can talk to whoever you want and say whatever you want without having to look them in the eye?

    Sadly, I fear all of the extreme weather from the past few years is becoming the new normal and that is a scary reality.

       I was interpreting for a deaf student in a meteorology class in 1993 and the prof was then talking about extreme weather based on global climate change and I remember wishing this shy man could get out of the lab and convince the world .
