Is the Hubpages 'Featured Hubs' going to reduce traffic?
I'm curious about this. As for my own hubs, many have had to sit idle for 3-6 months, then would start to get great traffic as Google gives respect to older content. Will the fact that search engines can't see our content mean that traffic will reduce? Or will re-publishing them after 3-6 months have the same effect as naturally aging?
I wonder about that too, some hubs take ages to mature. If hubs don't get serious traffic for 3-6 months, what happens when hubpages decides to idle them during a dry spell? It becomes a useless hub I guess...
I understand your concern about idled hubs not getting traffic. I think that the hard work & time that everyone has taken to create a hub shouldn't be wasted, and if your interested I have a quick fix to get all of your hubs back into the lime light - http://goody5.hubpages.com/hub/Quick-fi … led-status I hope this helps you all out.
A simple solution is just to edit something in the hub. But, this doesn't help content to age naturally and gives hubbers unnecessary work. I am lookng to find out if aged content will still gain traffic ... Or, if we have to edit hubs every month
When they started to put the "H" sign besides the "good" hubs, all of mine got the sign except one. A few weeks later, several hubs got the sign removed, I guess because of little traffic. The next week, some of the same hubs got the sign back when the traffic increased. Makes me wonder why they go through the worthless exercise.
You have raised a rather interesting point Brett. I think that it's quite natural for hubs to experience a drop in traffic as they sit idle, but Google wont send any large amount of generic traffic to them if after 3-6 months nothing much have been done to them to make them traffic worthy. In fact, I have tried to dress up a few of my old idled hubs, but they only remain active for a period before going back to idle. I am wondering if the fact that I have updated the content of most of these hubs, they have been automatically transformed to new hubs(new content)! If this is the case, I think the next time I might do just a little tweet here and there so as prevent them from appearing as totally fresh contents.
Interesting reply. Normally it seems to take 3-6 months for hubs to get well established. I've had dead hubs just 'take off' many times. Worried that won't happen now ... still, I guess constant tweaking is good, so long as you have the time for it
In regards to the issue of "Time", you are so right Brett. I find that instead of creating new hubs, or even spending the time reading and commenting on other's hubs, I often ended up spending my time tweaking hubs or just staring blank!
Featured Hubs should be constantly updated to get a constant visits. Otherwise there would be no difference between a matured and a dead one?
While I agree hubs should be updated, there is a big difference. A 'dead hub' is not in search engines and as far as I can see, won't mature. A well written matured hub will often continue to draw traffic, even when not updated for a long time.

I used to be totally addicted to HP, couldn't wait to log on everyday to see what was happening, who and what was popping in the forums, what interesting hub made HOTD, and of course, how my stats and earnings were progressing. I looked forward to the rush I got from clicking "publish"...

There has been a lot of discussion in the last few days about HP changing the rules and people being un-featured or even un-published for spam and over promotional activity. So I just want to add my thoughts......Whether people (writers) like it or not most of their traffic will be coming from...

I have just started, so I dont expect it in the near future, but how many hubs, or how many months before you start making money? How much traffic is considered to be good traffic? Right now I am getting about an average of 75 hits per day on 4 hubs. Is that good? What...

Been quiet as of late going through my hubpages and am yet undecided whether to keep some or delete a load of them or even vastly re-write them and add value instead of just my thoughts which don't count for much.Am updating my hubs to comply with the newer HP policies too and have come up with a...

To meet the 'quality' standard to avoid hubs getting sleepy ZZZd just follow these rules:=> A minimum of 1500 words of truly informative, well-written, useful content => A minimum of 5 relevant, high-resolution, properly-attributed photos (ideally your own) => 2 videos (ideally your own)...

Hey Guys and Gals, Man, I have just about had it with the traffic issues here at the Hubpages. I have published over 100 hubs here in two years. I have won several awards, I have had over 10, 000 views, and I have a following of over 200 people. When this whole traffic loss debacle first occurred,...
