If you were given $100 to start a business, how would you do it?
There are success stories of people starting a business with very little money. If you were one of those people, and you're given $100, how would you do it?
Well, $100 in USA is not much, So i would move to any developing country where that in some cases a $100 note could mean 100 thousand in local currency and that would make it easier to do business there. Plus, when my business spreads in that country that would mean huge money. Which when converted in the US Dollar would be huge. Though, it would take a lot of work.
I would invest that money in advertising. The word of mouth and facebook can really only get you so far, but posters and cards stay put and can be seen by a great many.
But then again, it also depends on what the business is. It is assuming one would not need to invest any money into equipment.
Although, being inspired by Mastpunjabi's comment, investing the money into other currencies would be an interesting way of building your money. For example, getting your $100 put into British pounds. If the exchange rate is $1.67 to the pound when you exchange it, wait until it reaches $1.90 per pounds (and I have seen it do this, many times. I tend to keep track of exchange rates) and exchange it again into dollars, and you've gained only about $13 doing that, but there are other exchange rates which fluctuate a bit more dramatically than that which may serve as better investments.
You can't do much with $100 these days. I would probably post a free ad in Craigslist, makes some signs and have some garage sales. Most likely you would have to parlay those profits into another business which will depend on one's skillset.
If you have an eye for value you might purchase some items off season and hold onto them until they are back in season. You'd then sell them using eBay and Amazon accounts. (School supplies like Crayola crayons, Elmer's glue. book bags...etc)
You might take a look at meetup.com and see what types of groups are out there. You may attend a couple of meetings and determine whether or not there might be an opportunity to create a seminar/workshop business.

Hey guys,It's impossible in this day and age to be considered rich unless we can branch out, start a business, create something new, take calculated risks, and reap the rewards from very very hard work. I think all of us at one point have wanted to be more than just an employee to a big corporation...
