   After the announcements about tax changes as of 1/1/13, anyone wish they'd voted differently?
   
   It's amazing how candidates say what the people want to hear. I'm curious to know the statistics on how many people now wish they'd voted differently.

   I hope that some people learn from this. I was telling all my liberal friends that this was going to happen and all they did was smile, shrug and mumble that Obama would never let anything bad happen.
   
   I would be willing to bet that most people are bull headed and will say that they are not sorry due to all the propaganda that the left were saying about Romney. "Romney would have taken the right to vote away from women," and all that other nonsense.

   Obama did the best he could  to accomodate compromise in the face of a disgustingly obstructionist GOP. Romney would have sold all of the '99' percent down the river. I remain satisfied wtih my selections when faced with the alternative.

   I honestly doubt it would have mattered who was appointed as our new Czar in 2013. Democratic and Republican leaders are all on the same team and sleep in the same bed. Partisan politics only exist on t.v. and at the grass roots level, but not in Washington D.C. where it matters.

   It's been 4 years and I'm curious what good change Obama has done for the US.  He ran on change in 08 and did nothing but more of the same.
   
   Good question.  Most people claim to be of one party and instead of digging past the media to see what people actually stand for they believe what the media says and who they push.  Its laziness on the part of the voter and who gets elected.

   Which tax changes are you inquiring about because there have been more than one that was affected.
   
   The "fiscal cliff" deal kept tax rates the same for individuals making less than 400k and couples making less than 450k.
   
   The biggest change people are going to see with their first January paycheck is that the social security payroll deduction has been allowed to expire and go back up 2% to something like 6.2% I believe.  This was not even debated by either party so it going away shouldn't be a surprise.
   
   This temporary deduction would have expired at the beginning of 2012 but it was extended in December 2011.

   Doesn't really change anything for me. My vote was decided quite some time ago and unlikely to change. I don't think you will find too many who would say they wish they voted for the other guy.

      Thanks for commenting, brblog. I've actually met a good amount of people who voted for Obama in 08 and regretted it afterward and said they were definitely not voting for him again. I was surprised they were so forthcoming. Best ~ fitmom

      Yes, I think that was the case with the 08 vs 12 election but I'm guessing that this time around, since people now know Obama and after a long and crazy republican primary, that most had a pretty firm commitment to one or the other.

   People who regret their vote will rarely admit to it.  However most Americans are truly clueless about the coming wave of taxes that will effect us all.  Some directly and others indirectly.   Considering that the tax code is about 70k pages, it's not surprising that most people don't study the issue unless it is their business to do so.  Sadly, they are foolish enough to believe that it's something that will only impact the other guy.  The funny part is during Medieval times, Serfs taxed at about 25%.  And that was considered to be an opressive state of tyranny.

      There is also a whole industry built around the tax code and of course, all of the special interests that benefit from various tax provisions.

      That's correct. The more complex it is the more the Lawyers, CPA's, Insurance companies and Financial Planners like myself benefit.  It helps me, but I don't agree with it.
