Why did God love Jacob so much that he allowed Jacob to Wrestle him all night? Genesis 32:24-29
Everything God does and says in the scriptures is for a purpose and usually it has more than one purpose to accommodate different levels of understanding according to the reader's ability. Therefore each reader, depending on their given level of spiritual understanding, (received through the Holy Spiirt) would have there own interpretation to this piece of writing. Generally, the meaning simulates the Book of Job who had great faith and love for God, however, satan challenged this, suggesting Job would betray God and lose faith if his wealth was taken from him. Suggesting wealth and easy living make it easy for a person to have faith in God. This of course is untrue! But this was satan's challenge! Job remained faithful even after great suffering! In many cases today (people are more fickle- and easily led by money, status and power ) so that satan's statement may be true. But in Job's case he remained steadfast and loyal even when he lost everything!
The scenario with Jacob similarly, demonstrates a potential human weakness during troubled times and adversary intervention. Jacob who is strong in faith, determined and loyal evidences a point God is making here. The point is that walking with God may not necessarily be easy, there will be battles to overcome, trials to win through and wars to win. Some of these battles may be God himself testing your faithfullness! God allowed Jacob the intimacy of wrestling with him, to understand God and his ways. This is not easy but the overall principle God is trying to demonstrate to his people is that he loves them enough to refine them into pure gold, to bring them to a state of holiness so that they may dwell amongst him. This is only achieved through understanding the person of God, his love for his chosen and elect, and his methods of cleansing them through his son Yeshua!
Wrestling with God is a priviledge, because through perseverance, endurance and determination to stay with God to the very end, you will acquire Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding to equip you for life's difficulties and overcoming these you will be rewarded with the gift of everlasting life and a relationship with God and Yeshua! After Jacob wrestled with God (and God was the one to stop the wrestling because he was pleased with Jacob's perseverance) he send Jacob on his way with his blessing!
It is a necessary requirement for all of God's chosen to wrestle with God to acquire the above.
A stranger, who turned out to be an angel, grappled with Jacob by night, and with one touch he put Jacob’s thigh out of joint. Jacob refused to let go unless the angel first blessed him. The prophet Hosea later said that Jacob “wept, that he might implore favor for himself.” (Hosea 12:2-4; Genesis 32:24-29) Jacob knew that previous angelic appearances concerned the outworking of the Abrahamic covenant through his seed. So he exerted himself in vigorous wrestling and obtained a blessing. At this time, God changed his name to Israel, meaning “Contender (Perseverer) With God,” or “God Contends.”
The Hebrew word wrestling here can be understood - to hold on and not let go.
Maybe this was a way for God to test Jacob's mind, heart, and devotion. Once he gave all of the strength he had to give, and never gave up, he was blessed because he had earned it.
Jacob had to overcome the mindset for which he left his family's presence years earlier, 'a thief of the family firstborn birthright'. He was returning to what he ran from. Tradition said he could not walk in such awesome blessing. He contended with set religion to the point of victory. Then was given the mark that 'its not by might or by power, but by my spirit says the Lord'. He broke a traditional mindset with Gods favor.
This depiction of Jacob wrestling with an angel is not what is in the Bible but some figment of imagination. The word angel has two meanings in the Bible. One is an angelic being and the other meaning messenger. An angelic being can come as a messenger of God as in the case of Gabriel coming to Joseph, Mary and Daniel. Another is Christ himself appearing in the old testament as a theophany (God presence) the messenger of God; as in the case of Abraham, Moses and Gideon. Oh, by the way angels don't have wings, only seraphim and Cherubim do. It is evident that Jacob was aware of the character of Him with whom he wrestled; and, believing that His power, though by far superior to human, was yet limited by His promise to do him good, he determined not to lose the golden opportunity of securing a blessing. And nothing gives God greater pleasure than to see the hearts of His people firmly adhering to Him. The fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

In the bible, Isaac blessed Jacob and he prospered. Is it then right that he stole his brother's blessing (courtesy of his mother)and went unpunished. Was that how God willed it? Some one please explain.

I know that the holy trinity are all meant to be the same and one being. God is the father and the son and the holy spirit. But, taking into account, this was decided by a group of men hundreds of years after Jesus, what is everyone's opinion on this?If Jesus and God are the same? Why does Jesus...
