What can a HP member do when she/he is targeted by a nasty troll?

Last night I had 7 nasty comments left on 7 of my hubs, unrelated to the hubs' content. This person had joined HP 2 hours previously as "clevermind", but written nothing, apparently just to spam/abuse HP writers. I flagged his/her account and deleted the abusive comments. This morning there others to take their places, under various names, none of them with an account. I changed my Comments settings to disallow non-member comments, but what if this idiot continues to sign on under different names? Will HP admin. do anything about it? Anyone else had a visit from this person with no life?

I deleted all the HP comments and changed my Comments settings so that non-member comments aren't accepted. After I signed off HP, I found that this jerk tracked me down to another site and made this same very inappropriate comment there!

Oh my. I have heard of these things happening. I have had some nasty comments and one person even threatened my life. But he was banned immediately. The fact he tracked you to another site is troubling. I don't know why these sick people feel the need to attack innocent writers. Maybe HP can ban his IP address to prevent him creating new accounts under various names.

Either the HP team removed his (one) account when I flagged it and gave specifics, or he/she just left. All the other "comments" were under a variety of non-member names. I stopped that with setting changes, but he already had my name. Troubling, yes.

Nothing much HP admin can do to stop a person from creating different account names and trolling, Like trying to stop prank phone calls, close to impossible. There is no way for HP to know whether the new account opened is the trolls or not. HP admin will probably ban the accounts that he uses to troll with, after people complain, but that is all they can do. Best to just ignore the troll.

Thanks for your comment, ketage. Either HP admin quickly deleted the account after I complained, but this "person's" other inappropriate comments were made as a non-member. Once I changed my settings, he/she could no longer do that on HP.
