Have you ever been temporarily locked by Facebook because of malware on your computer?
Nowadays, there are many malware on the internet. Like booby traps, they come in all forms. You can be infected when you click on a link in Facebook to watch a "shocking video" from a friend's status update or visit a website claiming to offer special features. Supposing you spend days cleaning up your own computer, or else, send it to the computer shop to get it fixed, would you develop a phobia for links in Facebook (or on the internet) after that?
I have never heard Facebook doing that to any user, till date. Well I have antivirus installed in my lap & I don't think this will ever happen to me.
Gags2480, just type "facebook temporarily locked" in Google Search. Of late, there has been an increase in Facebook scams serving malicious browser extensions. Once installed, the extension will load a script from another website to Facebook.
I can no longer access Facebook on Chrome because Facebook thinks my SEOquake is malware. It's really annoying and I think Facebook needs to either use a better system or let people override the warning!
But you can access Facebook with other browsers, right? I still have 16 hours before my ban is lifted. This is the 3rd consecutive ban in 3 days! But I can't blame them. AdwCleaner found many malware that are hopefully cleaned now.
I use FireFox with the NoScript add-on which prevents "Click-Jacking" and other malicious activity. I've never had a problem accessing Facebook. I also use a name-brand anti-virus product that is kept up-to-date.
Bill, thanks for recommending NoScript! I have just installed it. Never knew such a thing existed!! I have never faced a problem with Facebook until 3 days ago and when it happened, it happened 3 times in a row!!!
Walter. NoScript can be a pain in the butt because it disallows everything, but it's great at thwarting unscrupulous sites.. So I use FireFox with NoScript for Facebook, and IE or Chrome for when I need to interact with a website.
Bill, you are right, I have just remove NoScript because I need to interact all the time.
In addition to good anti-virus software, you should also have spybot search and destroy and update and run that regularly as well. Also, take time to be proactive and learn about common scams/spoofs and check things out before you click on them. "Shocking video" etc is a big clue - ask the friend who "posted" it if it's a true link first etc. when in doubt.

This was shocking when I discovered it today. Whenever I click on anything from my account that is hyperlinked text - examples would be the "Add capsule" or attempt to open my hub from the "My Account" section via the mouse's center click (to open in a new tab - a new window...

For the past 5 or 6 hours I have been dealing with some fraud and identity theft that I discovered and I'm now really weary of my online security; I hope some HP "techies" can help... I use the Windows 7 built-in firewall and I use the free version of Avast for antivirus. ...
