If you had a time machine and you could go back to a specific time period? Which would you choose?
My favorite time in history is during the Civil War, but I wouldn't have wanted to be there then, so I'd say the old west after the war....I could definitely ride a horse around and camp under the stars and work a cattle train. Yep, that's when I would like to visit for sure.
I suppose you'd be driving cattle north from Texas or thereabouts.
Tudor England, for sure....and I would choose to be a lady in waiting to Henry's second wife, the unfortunate Anne. Yes, she met a desperate end....but what a journey leading up to it!
I think I'd like to go back to country Queensland in, say, 1912. My grandfather came out to Australia from England and got a job as a Jackaroo on a cattle station. Unlike yours truly, he was tall in the saddle. I would like to meet him before he joined the Australian light horse and went to war. Since he joined up in 1914, I'd say that 1912 would be a good year to get to know him as a young adventurer from England in peace time Australia. It was also around this time that The Bulletin was at the top of its game as a national magazine and it would be fantastic to get a few stories of my own into it.
Great question. I would choose the 19th Century so that I could be among all of my favorite poets. Longfellow, Poe, Keats, etc...
either the late 30's or 50's. I love the style of clothes and the morals that people carried with them.
I think my first choice would be to arrive in Israel during the time of Christ and be in a position to ask Him questions and observe...
I think going back to medieval England would be pretty awesome. I would want to grab a sword and roam the countryside. It would be a great adventure. Meet up with many different people and exchange ideas, goods and services. Fight off bandits and wild animals, see many beautiful natural scenic views long before today's world destroyed them. Maybe even become a knight.
I've always wanted to rescue a damsel in distress. Maybe not from a fire-breathing dragon, but from some kind of peril. I'd be a role-model to men and boys, a dream-hunk to the ladies (flattered, but spoken for), and I'd be well known throughout the kingdoms. I've also wanted to see castles before they became tourist attractions.
Would it be challenging? Of course! But I like a challenge. Does this seem like a daydream? Of course, but the beauty of a dream is that it can be whatever you want it to be!
Ha! Not the real middle ages but how we would all have liked the middle ages to have been.
I will like to revisit the great Mahabharata when Lord Krishna recited Bhagwad Gita to awaken Arjun. It will also enable me to see the conditions on the earth when Lord Krishna HIMSELF had to take birth as an ordinary person to root out evil forces.
I would be honored to be present in biblical times, specifically the Last Supper. Fast forward several centuries, being a part of the antebellum period of the US would be awesome, so I could dress in period clothes.
I would go back to the day I was born so I could see myself being born and also to see the looks on both my parents faces.
