How do you get a hub featured on Facebook?

This week one of my hubs was nominated for a Rising Star Award! Yay. I shared it on Facebook to get more traffic and votes. I noticed that two hubs that I'm competing against were featured on HP's Facebook page this week, which of course will get them more exposure and potential votes.

What is the criteria for being featured on HP's Facebook page?

I would hope that Hubpages will be giving a showcase to each of the rising stars throughout the course of a week so you should fear not.

I have to admit I've had hubs showcased on there and in honesty it hasn't gained a significant amount of traffic (I'd estimate single figure numbers, maybe slightly more). The main benefit to your hubs will be the backlink through facebook and if people go on to post links to the hub and 'like it.

A great way to increase exposure on facebook is to join a selection of groups related to you hubs and occassionally post your link to the group profile. That way you're targeting individuals involved in aspects of your article so you have potential for them to read and like. Get the right person to 'like' your article and you never know where it could lead- My best so far via facebook is about 400 page views in one day based on a chain of people liking one of my articles.

Hey Cycling, thanks for your reply. HP does announce the winners in the newsletter but I haven't found a place where the nominees are listed, other than on the voting page itself. Great advice about posting to groups. Thanks again!

Hi Sugahware. It is easy to do. At the bottom of the Facebook items it says:
    Like - comment - Promote - Share

First, post the article at your home page. There are other methods, yet this seems to work best for me over the passed year. Then once posted it will indicate those four (4) actions you may make.

Promote costs $6.99 and highlights it at the top of the feeds at your followers home pages and etc. When I use that feature I do all four actions I like the article, I make a short comment of less than ten words, I select Promote, and then share. Some are repetitive steps, yet that is just me. Modify per your best comfort zone.

If you allow subscribers or followers your article is featured at that followers home page at the top side. When promoted then it has a better propensity of being seen on their feed. The trick is how many and who the followers are.

If I were you I or I was nominated I would look closely at what the hub is on. I have no idea, yet congratulations and best wishes. Then seek groups at Facebook of a like interest and post there. I have posted hubs at Universities, college interest groups, special interest groups like drag racing, and etc.

One consideration is it is randomness that decides from your perspective as the marketer. The more exposure (not exploitation) the greater the propensity of a random choice of a reader.

At Pinterest for instance I belong to groups like gamers, fashion, drag racing, and more. I post occasionally to those. However, most look at like by pinning, yet not all click and read.

So, success there means having a an awesome and stellar opening image for the article attracting that pinning group considered in the planning phase. You can do marketing there by changing up the image in intervals and watching your readership changes at ever views.

Do for at least a week with a different image. And, then compare to the week(s) of the other images. Then you can choose the best from what the market is sharing with you. Done deal some say. Now you know what image is liked by most over a given time period compared to other images.

I wandered way too much from the question. I hope I answered it. If not give me a hollar.

Thanks so much for the information and advice, Tim. You answered my question and then some! I'm definitely going to start posting to FB groups and I just joined Pinterest today.
