Why it is of the utmost importance for children to be highly self-motivated in this postmodern era?

Much emphasis have been made upon the importance of parents using proper and positive motivation regarding their children in order for them to succeed. However, despite the best parental intentions, there are SOME children who WILL NOT SUCCEED  but in fact WILL FAIL MISERABLY or at best UNDERACHIEVE because the latter are simply not self-motivated.  In order for children to succeed, THEY must have the prerequisite SELF-MOTIVATION.  Parents can only do so much and from there on, it is up the child himself/herself to succeed.

Parents need guidance in motivating their children at times. Some parents understand their children, others don't know what is going on. Every parent should have their child meet for 15 minutes with a educating/learning specialist. The good ones can know the childs learning style, intelligence level, and their personality just in that 15 minutes. It's all about how you understand and help your child by giving them the tools they need, even with positive motivation to succeed.

Because if they aren't, they wind up on welfare blaming the world for their woes.

The world is becoming increasingly individualistic because of technology. Because children are no longer dependant on interaction with other children and adults to learn they are becoming socially disfunctional and if they do not develop a sense of self worth they will drop out of society. If they cannot keep up with technology they will lose motivation. Facilitating a good balance of both technology and social interaction will help to maintain a healthy level of motivation.
