Do you have suggestions on how to acquire more hubpages followers?
I am just hoping anyone has any experiences to share on what they have done as a hubber that might have caused an increase in their followers?
Read and comment on hubs. In other words, hub hop. Most writers will see your comment and then read one of your hubs and so forth. Also, answer questions here or in the forums. People might become curious about your answer, read your hubs and start to follow. I have gotten many followers from both hub hopping and answering questions here. Good luck.
What duffsmom said. Also, Follow other writers who write stuff that you enjoy. I imagine that most people here will head to the profile page of anyone who follows them, to have a look around - I know that I do, at least.
But, don't go on a 'follow binge' - meaning, don't go following a bunch of people at once just out of hope that some will follow you in return. It's harmless, really, but I don't think it works. Again, I can only go from my own experience - but, if I go to someone's profile page and glance over their recent activity, and see my name somewhere in the middle of a long list that they've followed over a short period of time, then I'm going to assume that that particular follower never had any real intention of actually reading my stuff. Of course, if I happen to like what they write, I'll probably follow them in return anyway - but, still, it kind of bothers me.
Why do you want followers?
They don't bring you traffic or money. If you want either of those you need to concentrate on getting external traffic - from search engines or social media.
Followers are often just a pretty number.
A pretty number, orrrr my general impact on the hubpages community.. which is, as a writer for writings sake, my goal.
Wow. Aren't we just a ray of sunshine today.
New members often make the mistake of thinking followers is the most important achievement here. Actually - if you aim at traffic, money and knowledge, followers will come on their own.
According to my experience, I joined the hub challenge 30 days and received increasing followers. Besides that, i also participate in answering questions, hub hopping and that increased my followers too. You just have to be active in HP.
Keep publishing good hubs! If you go explore the different categories of hubs, you'll see that there are thousands of hubbers following specific topics, so whenever a new hub is published in a topic that they follow, they receive a notification in their email.
If your content is good and your titles are interesting, you'll pick up new followers with every hub you publish.
Follow that up with reading and commenting on other people's hubs too -- and following them, if you like their hubs -- and you'll acquire a large following.
Consistency is important, though. Whenever I publish hubs regularly, I pick up new followers without even trying. But during periods where I was missing in action for weeks at a time, my views would fall and I would even lose a couple of followers too.
This past week I published 5 new hubs and picked up 11 new followers. I didn't go to them. They came to me. So just keep publishing hubs.
But keep in mind, if you're trying to earn money here, you can do that even without followers. As long as your hubs rank in Google, you'll do fine. In fact, search traffic is really the key to making money on HubPages.
I totally agree with Duffsmom Read and comment on hubs along with participate in forums and Questions like this

I am still new to Hubpages and have been enjoying a rather successful start. Thank you to those who have voted my articles up and those few of you who have begun to follow me. But I have noticed one thing of late and maybe it is the way it goes but I think it is disrespectful. I have commented on a...

On Hubpages, if someone follows you, do you have to follow them back as courtesy?I have noticed a lot of people that have followed me that don't leave any comments. I wonder if I should follow them back as courtesy or not? The ones that do leave comments when they follow me are the ones...

When you are notified of a new follower, how do you respond?Do you go to their page and check them out? Do you read any of their hubs? Do you mke sure that they are legitimate? I have a lot of followers who seem to be advertisers. Hubpages are really good about weeding them out but I do see many...

Have you noticed that the high earners on HubPages appear to follow very few writers themselves?Could it be said then, that it is more important to have a following than it is to follow back other writers and Are we spending too much time commenting at the cost of writing new content?

Hello,I am new here in HubPages. Just signed up for an account a few days ago and I barely got any followers. I would like to know some tips on how to increase my number of followers aside of course, from writing a great hub and following other hubbers.
