I like to go for a walk and listen to my mp3. Or I do yoga with my mp3. It calms me and gives me ideas for a story.

      Kevina Oyatedor,
Every time I go for a hike or workout I listen to music. It keeps me going:)

To a quiet area in my backyard where I'll pray and meditate.

      creativelycc,
Isn't it great to have a place for solitude in your yard. I love it that the trees are all around, and it's quiet in my yard.
      Thanks,
      Lisa

Yes. I go to bank of the river. The natural beauty, the current of river refresh my mind and all those help me to think.

      mrbhuyan,
In Michigan it's not hard to find beautiful rivers and lakes. I love to be near them even in the cooler seasons.
      Thanks,
      Lisa

I have a lot of forest behind my house. On days that I need to collect my thoughts, I walk along a trail about a mile back and sit on this hug boulder that over looks a stream. Very peaceful place. Often times I may even bring a book to distract myself from everyday life once and awhile.

I go to the beach.  I also enjoy weeding, get a lot of thinking done during that activity.

What a wonderful question; yes indeed, I do have a special place that I use to go to. A beautiful natural cedar swamp with a natural ice - cold spring percolating up. The area is/was surrounded in flowering shrubs with a rose-clump near the spring. A peaceful and serene place to contemplate. Since that place is now about 1600 miles away from where I live, I have found other places to fill the void.
Our subdivision is surrounded in forested trails and with the possession of dogs that like to walk I have found that quiet walks in the early mourn with or without our dogs affords opportunity to contemplate and reflect not unlike being at that natural spring in the "middle-of-no-where."
I must add that I can now find peace, tranquility and time for deep-thought (i.e. contemplation) at our RDV recreation center near where I reside. Especially when I take-flight on the ice surface and lose myself with a stick and puck. Some excellent contemplation has blossomed on this surface in the early Saturday mourns.

The special place for me is my garden, whenever I am feeling down I just go there and look at my plants and flowers. Somehow my mood lightens up.

Bike rides are a quick pick-me-up to relax my thoughts and space them out. But my favorite place is to go boating. Usually I just fish a bit or read a novel and enjoy a day on the water. For some reason it's been very difficult for me to enjoy novels lately. I guess I just haven't found the right one to get me out of the reading slump...

Usually home when it's late at night, I hit the dining room table when everyone is sleeping.  Pull out a notebook (It's called my workbook.) and my favorite pen, and start listing everything that needs my attention on the left.
I'll put on some coffee, or ginger tea (yum), roll up my sleeves, and get to work.  To the right of each problem, I'll list solutions, and a timeline of when it should be resolved.
As I move through the week, I'll take a peek at my workbook and scratch off whatever is done - or add to the list whatever else, and make adjustments as needed.
Not the best system, but it works for me.

I mostly use my driving time to gather my thoughts. I have a 25 to 30-minuted drive both to and from work, so that gives me plenty of time. I also do my thinking and planning in my easy chair at home. It helps more to have a baseball game on at the time.

My favorite place to go to collect my thoughts is the Pocono mountains,  Being immersed in nature always seems to help. smile

i take long drives alone down the back roads listening to whatever my heart desires on the radio. this may not be a special place for most, but in my life, a solid 10 minutes alone worrying about only me anywhere becomes special! haha
