Unfortunately, yes, I have....It's the most helpless feeling in the world. It sucks.

Yes, I did. As horrible in some ways that it was, he was able to speak with me on what he saw on the other side. He was so excited by what he saw, he wanted me to see. Of course, I could not go with him, and that broke my heart. I did though realized he had many greeting him, when he finally did crossed. He was received with plenty of love. That I am grateful for.

Renee, that is fascinating.  Have you written a hub on it, I would love to hear more.

Yes I have. Somehow I expected some sign that the soul and spirit had left the body, but I saw none. It is just a sad time.

Yes. Twice. Both were elderly and ready to leave this earth.
My dad's death was clinical, wrapped in a cocoon in the ICU. We had to
get my sister (Medical POA) on the phone to stop trying to keep him alive
artificially. He did not want that.
I watched his heartrate fall to flatline.

My mother-in-law's death was expected and anticipated. She was in hospice.
We'd been watching the  signs for weeks as she transitioned from this world to the next. She died in her own bed, surrounded by loved ones. It was peaceful. As close to perfect as a death can be.

Mighty Mom: Thank you.  My mom is in hospice now and it is breaking our hearts.  We too believe she is peaceful.

I have! The first time in my life I have ever lost someone close to me. My dad passed away almost a year ago. It was the most heartbreaking experience of my life. I saw a man who rarely got sick & seemed impossible for him to ever be weak get hooked up to lines & tubes & barely able to stand on his own two feet. I think the worst part was having the last images of the strongest man I know being weak. Why do we have to see them like that as our "last impression" of them?
Although I'm doing OK now I'm not really sure how long it will take to fully recover from it.

Thank you for sharing. I just lost my mom and agree it will take a very long time to recover.

It will definitely take time to recover. Sometimes I get a sort of "fed up" feeling & just want to see him because it's been so long. Just let it take as long as YOU need. But remember to also live your life <3

Yes, I have. My whole family was standing in the hospice room when my Grandfather passed away. It was soul crushing to see him take his final breath but at least he was able to see all of us one last time. He had slipped into a coma a few days before and obiviously hadn't spoken since. A second before he passed away he whispered I love you to my Grandmother. It was so sad and hard to watch.
