      I agree, some of the things were extreme; but I used to watch the show all of the time and learned some things which could be done.

   How could you not be?  It was played by an underrated actor, featured entertaining stories and actually taught people a thing or two about science.  Awesome show.

      Yes. I learned, as you said, a fact or two about science - and math. Plus it had its funny moments. I also now keep duct tape on hand for useful items.

   I used to see it when I was a teen and loved it then. Haven't seen it in many years, so I don't know how it would fare now.

      I used to watch it a while back too. I have some episodes recorded from when I lived in NJ and I was watching one the other night. That is what made me ask this question. Watching the show brought back memories.

   Yes I am and even though some of the storylines seem a bit far-fetched nowadays,  the show is still very entertaining.

      Some of them may have been far-fetched, such as stopping a nuclear bomb with one second left. The part that caught my eye though was how he did it, it made my mind become inquiring in real-life situations.

   I love it!
   My mom brought home the boxed DVD set and I fell in love from it then. I loved how you always learned a little something from each episode, like a trick, or even a small fact.
   Whenever I have to temporarily fix something using strange items, I call it a MacGyver-ism, haha!

      I do not have the DVD set, (though I wish I did), I recorded a few myself. I have a weird mind that is always thinking and never stops thinking! I fix things like that too. :-)

      One time I was at the bus stop and my sandal strap broke. I then used the ribbon piece off my umbrella handle to make a temporary strap until I got home. I felt so proud of myself, haha!

      At Windells Holiday Snowboard Camp, a roommate wanted to light a candle, but didn't have matches. I got fire by holding a paper towel to a turned-on burner; it's an old trick. She complimented me on my McGyver skills!

   I definitely enjoyed them!  I thought it was funny that it was supposed to take place in the Los Angeles area, yet you see all these brick buildings and can tell it was filmed in Vancouver, BC,.  It also helped that I once had a Canadian womanizer roommate who resembled a short brunet Richard Dean Anderson.

      I also enjoyed that show.
      I have watched many shows which were well and I liked, but I still caught something in the background which did not match.

   I used to enjoy the show when it was in it's original run. The MacGyverisms in each show were all real, doable tricks. What the writers did, was to leave out one small component of each invention so that kids couldn't "try this at home". Richard Dean Anderson was a fun actor to watch and I enjoyed his work on Stargate:SG1 even more than his work on MacGyver.

      I did not see Stargate:SG1, just MacGyver. I liked the show for its strategies and humor and it kept my mind thinking in my own situations.
