Not at all! I don't think I would want to live on a boat anywhere...

That is a very fair answer Snapbackbetty, living on a canal boat doesn't suit everyone. We have sold boats to people who after a few months come back to us to sell it, as it hasn't met their expectations. Thanks for the reply.

I used to live opposite a canal in Long Eaton, and close to Trent Lock, there are narrow boats there that are Moored there all year round, and they look wonderful to live in.  Some have balconies and are beautifully looked after, they look so pretty on the water.  They are fairly room and warm.  It must be nice to have the sort of lifestyle that means you can do this.

I think it would be quite nice

Hi Lavender Jade Derbyshire has a nice canal network and is a great part of the UK network for cruising and mooring. Thank you for taking the time to answer our question

No I wouldn't.  I had a boyfriend who lived on a narrowboat moored on the S Yorks  Navigation and although it was quite warm and cosy I always felt too hemmed in. Bit like a long narrow caravan on water!  I enjoyed some of the trips we made but frankly some of them were hard work and not my idea of a relaxing holiday.  I was exhausted shoving the manual locks and winding the windlass key key on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The Bingley Five Rise was a challenge too.  Needless to say the relationship ended...

Hi Sue, As you say it's not for everyone we come across couples who come to buy a boat one who is really keen and the other just coming along for the ride - this usually means we see them again to sell the boat. It has to be right for both parties

I'm curious, why a "narrow" boat?  No, thanks. I used to spend a lot of time on a boat as a kid, but as an adult I developed a balance disorder and would suffer from vertigo if I spent time on the water.

Were it not for the disorder--yes by all means I would live on the water, by the water, next to the water. I love it and miss it.

Narrow boats are the style of boats we sell at our marina we do have some wide beams from time to time but on the whole they are narrow boats. If you have Claustrophobia or vertigo then living on any type of small vessel wouldn't be for you.

The idea of living on a boat is OK but the weather in the UK isn't for me.
If you require more than sandals its too cold.

We know what you mean Borsia, luckily this year the UK has been experiencing a fantastic summer, which we are all making the most of before the bad weather returns and we just know it will!
