Why do you think there isn't a global government?

There is to some extent.  There are internationally accepted laws and an international policing body.  We also have an International Monetary Fund.  Then of course there is the toothless United Nations.  But a single world gov't...that's not something I am looking forward to.  People flee from oppressive regimes all over to the world to head to places like the USA where they can live in more relative freedom.  If we had one solidified global gov't and one currency, where will you flee to in the event of a tyrannical leaders election, or military coup.  Gov't, like anything else functions better when they have competition.  It's hard enough with in a single nation to hold elected officials accountable.  There is virtually no way to do it in a single world gov't.   And we're not ready for interstellar space travel yet.  So leaving the planet is not an option.

Very true. This is why we have a huge immigration problem in our country. People flee here because their own government is corrupt, or their laws are too harsh. Funny this is, they try and implement their previous law here, too. Hmmm!

I have always found it amusing how people that hate the US want to come live here.

Because the world isn't perfect, and people can easily corrupt government (just look at ours)  It is foretold, however, when Christ comes again, he will rule the world and establish 1 perfect government, which he will be in control of, so we know it won't be corrupt

Indirectly there always will be a slight form of global government in order to establish free trade, peace treaties, and some type of economic balance especially among the industrialized nations. As it is if one nation has bad economic news the stock market in other nations react to it.
No "Superpower" can afford to isolate or cut themselves off from the rest of the world. Having a "global economy" requires a level of global involvement.

Also, true. I do think there is such a thing as an indirect government. However, I think a lot of power is still held by the USA. But yes, you're right, it cannot afford to have itself cut off from the rest of the world.
