   Hi, I'm new here and was just turned down by Amazon as an affiliate because not enough traffic...
   
   Is this common? Do you have to be completely established before Amazon or Ebay will allow themselves to become affiliates and you can start earning anything? I wanted to add that I realized after I submitted the application that I didn't submit the last few answers according to the tutorial so that may have effected it, and just now re-submitted.

   Sometimes it takes a while. I had 20 hubs and was a member about 2 months before EBay, Amazon and Google ads were approved. Stick with it because it works.

   It may take a while, however it will give you the opportunity to learn what it takes to begin to drive traffic to your Hubs. If you follow the suggestions in the tutorials and Help Pages (all of them) you will learn what works.
   
   It took me eight months before I earned my first pay-out and for a while I was earning a decent sum, then Google changed their rules and the site literally dried up overnight but if your not in it for the money it is a great community of writers to gain valuable experience.

   I remember having a horrible time getting approved (big submission and info issues).  Also, I had to have 10 featured hubs active before even being considered.  Just keep at it!  Eventually you'll get affiliated.  I know it's frustrating.  I wish I had better advice, but I don't.

   I just read your hub and you are doing fine.  Amazon will not be a big deal for awhile so enjoy writing and forget about the cash.  In a few weeks when you have 25 readers a day or so apply again.  I have made very little from Amazon and then one day I wrote a hub about hanging pictures using alternatives to a nail in the wall and someone bought several art hanging rails with about a $50. commission.  then back to almost nothing. 
   
   To get a readership going, comment on other peoples hubs to get some exposure, follow others here and if they like your work they may follow back, post on twitter, instagram and other sites. Keep writing and you will see some results.  If you hit on a topic everyone reads and it is a special niche you may see lots of traffic from just one or two hubs but it will be hit and miss,

   It takes time actually before you will be approved. Try to write first great article here to gain more traffic and re-apply.

   I already had Amazon for years before coming here, however I suggest that you forget about Amazon for now, publish several quality hubs, get some followers here, share your hubs on social networks to get some more traffic.... THEN worry about Amazon. Most people come here expecting instant gratification... this may even be due to a slight amount of misrepresentation on HP's part... but either way it's not going to happen. It takes a while to build up your profile here with good hubs before you can even generate enough traffic to get approvals, that's just how it is for most newcomers here. Like I said, I was lucky because I already established an Amazon account years back so I was "grandfathered in" and I don't envy anyone who has to jump over all of Amazon's new hurdles now, because I probably wouldn't have qualified either. Maintain patience, don't lose heart, just keep trying, you will get there.

   I did not get accepted for Adsense when I first applied but they told me I could reapply when I had more posts and showed some traffic. After I wrote several posts, I reapplied and was accepted immediately. When I applied for Amazon, I was already established with Google Adsense. The good news is that once you are accepted, you will be accepted for any site that you write on, as long as the material is appropriate. Good luck!

    I think hubpages' policy has made it more difficult to get your articles read. I have plenty of featured hubs, but there are over forty of them that are published on ezinearticles.com, that are not featured here. If hubpages deems your article not worth featuring, (I still haven't figured out how their editors with a BA in English are such good critics) people cannot find your article through the major search engines. They are cheating themselves of readers (ie profits) and keeping good articles from being found and read.

    Well... I've earned less than $1.00 with Adsense on my Hubs and only $4.16 from Amazon modules in my hubs. But I've earned over $22 in that same amount of time from HP's own ad program. So, don't worry too much about Amazon or AdSense. Just enjoy writing quality hubs and making friends on here. Your traffic will increase and you can re-apply. It's not the end of the world. Keep your chin up. :-)
