Hub as a hobbie or Hub for money?

Do you Hub for the sheer fun of it or are you looking to use it as a form of income? What are your thoughts on the differences between Hubs that are written for fun or Hubs written to garner some income? Or can you tell?

Hub for hobby because it's so difficult to write enough hubs to gain any income.  So if you are going to hub you might as well enjoy it.

Many start writing hubs for money. Soon it would be clear that no worthwhile money will be coming from HP. Having invested so much of  time and effort, people will now go and declare to others that they are writing in HP purely as a hobby, enjoying every bit of it and money is immaterial!

I write my Hubs as a form of self-expression, I guess.  Much like some people keep a personal journal, I put my thoughts 'out there.'   Well, much of the time.  At others I endeavour to teach people.  I'm vain enough to think I know something about certain subjects which might be helful to others e.g. Storytelling, or Creative Writing.  Also, some views on Self-knowledge and self-understanding.

Or I might simply put up a poem or short story or something I've had an interest in at some time.   But writing for money on Hubpages has hardly crossed my mind, if only because from the chatter on 'Answers' it is almost impossible to make anything other than a pittance anyway.

No, I do it for the fun.

I treat it strictly as a hobby because at the rate I'm going, I'll be an old man before I ever see any "income."

Good question. For me this is a hobby all the way. I don't approach it any differently than I would if it were a business, but I am realistic and know that the money simply isn't there for this to be anything but a hobby.

I am happy to be here and am happy with HubPages as I started this as a hobby in any case. I never intended this to be a replacement for my main job so I am content as it is.

For me, it started as a hobbie and turned into a great form of extra income.
