Hub as a hobbie or Hub for money?
Do you Hub for the sheer fun of it or are you looking to use it as a form of income? What are your thoughts on the differences between Hubs that are written for fun or Hubs written to garner some income? Or can you tell?
Hub for hobby because it's so difficult to write enough hubs to gain any income. So if you are going to hub you might as well enjoy it.
Many start writing hubs for money. Soon it would be clear that no worthwhile money will be coming from HP. Having invested so much of time and effort, people will now go and declare to others that they are writing in HP purely as a hobby, enjoying every bit of it and money is immaterial!
I write my Hubs as a form of self-expression, I guess. Much like some people keep a personal journal, I put my thoughts 'out there.' Well, much of the time. At others I endeavour to teach people. I'm vain enough to think I know something about certain subjects which might be helful to others e.g. Storytelling, or Creative Writing. Also, some views on Self-knowledge and self-understanding.
Or I might simply put up a poem or short story or something I've had an interest in at some time. But writing for money on Hubpages has hardly crossed my mind, if only because from the chatter on 'Answers' it is almost impossible to make anything other than a pittance anyway.
No, I do it for the fun.
I treat it strictly as a hobby because at the rate I'm going, I'll be an old man before I ever see any "income."
Good question. For me this is a hobby all the way. I don't approach it any differently than I would if it were a business, but I am realistic and know that the money simply isn't there for this to be anything but a hobby.
I am happy to be here and am happy with HubPages as I started this as a hobby in any case. I never intended this to be a replacement for my main job so I am content as it is.
For me, it started as a hobbie and turned into a great form of extra income.

I'm curious as to whether there has been a decrease in hubbers using the hub hopper to rate hubs. I just have a feeling there is because my hub scores haven't been fluctuating as much (which is fine with me). Overall, I'm wondering if there's been a bit of a slow down in hub QAP due to...

I have been on Hub Pages about a year and I have written about 27 Hubs and they have received close to 5000 views, which I felt was not bad and my status hovers between 82-88. Last week I had about 8 of my Hubs featured, which again seemed ok. Now magically overnight, I have all these codes now...

I see this message when my Hub is rejected: "Heads up! It looks like your Hub is not cleared for publication because it did not pass the Quality Assessment Process. No need to fret; every new Hubber goes through Boot Camp, and all you need to do is improve the Hub so that it meets our quality...

I made two hubs and both were rejected -I can understand that. What I do want to know is if the site can make money for me, and if so, how can I do it?

It has been such a fun exercise to participate in Hubpages author Annart's shorty story challenge. She posted a picture of her own painting and asked everyone to write a story from it. It has been amazing to watch so many talented writers rise to the challenge and produce incredible...

Just gaging anyone else's earnings here. I just checked google adsense and I have earned 64 dollars in 18 months. I've only written 19 Hubs and most of them don't get any traffic. Any thoughts?
