    Figuring Hub Scores

How are the Hubs being scored? The ones that I think are the best have lower scores than others that I think are not as well done.

It's from clicks, vote ups/ downs, comments left, quality, subject knowledge...

Yes, but when a hub is initially published by the author, HP gives it a score prior to views, clicks & comments. I am wondering how HP figures these start numbers. Some of my hubs were given high scores to begin with and others were not.

The photo of the dart board sums it up pretty well. I really never pay attention to Hub Scores because they make very little sense too me and serve no purpose.

How do we judge any subject, deep down, how do we know if something is right and true?

Ultimately we feel it with our heart and soul and Hub articles are no different, in terms of Hub articles one of my best is Pineal Gland the God Organ, over 18,000 readers agree with me and yet the Hub Score is 75 but has been as high as 95.

Why does it fluctuate, who knows . . . however ultimately it makes very little difference!

Thank you, somethingblue, the dartboard was the most accurate photo for this question that I could find. smile I know that it is not a big deal. The Hub scores on my Hubs are certainly not powerful enough to keep me from writing.

Hubs are scored on a quality assessment. The process involves reviewing the article on all of its merits. Is the article original, is it well written, correct use of grammar and punctuation, the general look at the article, the placement of links on the page, is it overly promotional, does it answer the question the title was asking. Technically, the list could be endless.
HP have the entire process listed in the faq sections.
All you should worry about is writing content to the best of your ability. If your content is good, but it receives a low hubscore, HP may increase its score over time as other people take more interest in it.

Quality Assessment sounds about right. I realize that so much of my written formatting could use improvement. Thank you for your feedback, Martin. smile

For me it just seems to be about the traffic your Hubs bring in. Maybe I'm wrong but that is what I see.

That is correct. After the initial evaluation and hubscore, it will then either gain or lose rank depending on traffic from sources outside of HP. I.e search engines, social sites, etc..

Thank you Phlebotomy Adviser for your comment. Yes, I do realize that eventually the hub scores fluxuate depending upon traffic, comments, votes, etc. I was originally asking how Hub Pages decides the initial score when a hub is first published. smile
